S&m3 bsod

edited April 2010 in Game Support
game plays fine for a few minutes, but after that i get a BSOD of

driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

for the driver smwdm.sys

I've looked into it a little, and it's related to my integrated sound. that sort of bsod never happened to me before, ever, on any game. Any ideas?

my PC is up to the requirements, I think:
Pentium 4, 2.8ghz HT
512MB RAM
Geforce 7300GT 256MB
I'm on Windows XP Pro, no SPs.
added dxdiag.

'ppreciated it.

    Eh... what?
Most games these days require SP2 or more...

That's your 7 year old sound driver. Do yourself a favour and go find a newer one.

And, to be honest, that 3 year old graphics driver is probably also starting to smell funny...

Also - get yourself a legit copy of Windows, because that's really the only reason NOT to install any service packs, and it's a really lame one.

np: Dakota Suite - Things We Lost Along The Way (Loscil Remix) (The Night Just Keeps Coming In)

Try installing the latest Graphics Driver and Audio Driver for your system.
