What? No kunckles for Sam, TellTale?

edited May 2010 in Sam & Max
I'm sure we've all noticed that in season 3, Max has gotten the pointy knuckles, elbows and knees that he has in the comics. But Sam, who also has pointy knuckles in the comics doesn't! Why not Telltale?

Well, everyone loves Max more than Sam. It's a fact.
Max became the president of the United States, after all ;)

Ah.. Will I help if I said I can see the pointy knuckles on Sam?

That was because Sam always answers the phone! It's not the same!

Could someone please change the title of this thread? Every time I read it I think of Sonic the Hedgehog :)

See his eager ready look. He's obviously saying "I want you to give it to me, Sam!"

Oh, wait, that's not what you meant by no Knuckles for Sam? I...uh...well...

[runs out of the topic screaming monkey noises]

Yeah that's why we made him the playable character instead of Max.

Exactly! So Max can have his own free will!

Next you'll want Tails for Sam too...

What? Someone beat me to the pun? Damnit.

We should've know that, considering that it is Sam who gets dementia in the future.

And Sam is not even vice president.

Unless he got bumped up after Mr. Spatula's incident.

Also, Sam had to play the dog while Max gets to be the boy.

It seems not. The stone statue of Mr. Spatula is vice president now.

And Sam got his soul ripped from his body, transforming him into an undead monster who is unable to communicate with the living, and Max got to be a zombie.

Best dev response I've seen on any board.

And I read Mythic's entire defense to stealing money from their customers.

Thanks Jake, this was seriously great.

    Are kunckles like cankles?
  • edited May 2010
    Only if you believe!

I wonder if Sam and Max's new design was influenced by the statue that was released last year? That also had Sam and Max with pointy knuckles, knees and elbows. And Max had slightly glossy teeth, which he also has in season 3.

I still kinda think that the addition of shadows just gave more definition to otherwise obscured detail on their models, but I dunno, there was what, a year or so between them?

They've really let him go to the dogs...
    Sorry.

That's partly it -- the realtime lighting is improved -- but the characters were both also pretty heavily upres'd, given more detail in their models (especially in their faces, to allow the animators to create facial expressions and mouth shapes with greater detail), and had high res normal maps painted (note Sam's jacket and suit are now correctly baggy and full of folds), and as a result Max now has some slight knuckles, while Sam's beautiful hands go unloved.

Noticed that right away, particularly on Max. Looks nice.

I'm curious about this remark. Is it possible to elaborate so I least the hands recieve love from me?

The added detail is great. I felt like the cloth texture on Sam's coat was overdoing it just a bit, but I loved everything else.

I loved the cloth texture on the suit. It differentiates Sam's suit fabric from his hat's felt (which lacks that texture, obviously).
