Secret of Monkey Island SE - Out on PSN
Apparently I completely missed the announcement that it was coming... was just browsing through the US PSN store and well: It's there. Download is still running (5 more minutes to go), so no idea how the quality is (hopefully they support 1080p), but the mere fact that I can finally play this (I actually bought it on Steam, but rarely played it since playing it well... involved running Steam) makes me excited. And well, technically my birthday is over by now, but it's still the 22nd in the US so I'm counting this as my birthday present
It's $9.99 and 433MB (thankfully a lot smaller than the PC version...shouldn't be an issue if they used a decent audio codec this time around).
OK just launched it. It is native 1080p and trust me, if your screen is up to it then you do want to play it that way. However there are some sprites that have a lower resolution and apparently somebody decided to disable bilinear filtering adding some aliasing to them. Unfortunately, this also affects the cursor, so it's hard to overlook... would it have been so hard to round cursor positions to full pixels? The absent filtering along with the unrounded position makes some duplicate lines wander across it.
BTW, for some reason this doesn't run at exactly full resolution... you get roughly 5% of black bars along BOTH axis.

The middle man of low morale is supposed to laugh, but all I could hear were the first few milliseconds of that sample. Trying to switch to classic mode during this issue resulted in the picture being stuck for a second. Later on when I had left the room, reentered and was trying to leave again the game crashed with only sound and a few shader effects still visible: Apparently the Scumm interpreter had crashed.
Could be an isolated issue, but I don't know yet.
