Free Adventure Games

edited May 2010 in General Chat
I saw a lets play on youtube by a guy called MikeNnemonic playing this free to download game called The White Chamber, was ok adventure/puzzle like but it was a horror'ish game, and I am not really fond of horror (Gives me nightmares), no they don't but I just don't like them :p

So anyone know any free adventure games out there, that are good that I should try? Or any lists with games I could try, anything will work.
Just not horror adventures :p

That reminds me of The Crimson Room, which in turn reminds me of Submachine. They're just in-browser Flash games, but they're still adventure games, they're pretty awesome, and they're free.

Looks interesting, I will have a look at them when I get of from work.

Which is still 6 hours away :p

Ben There, Dan That is a great comedy adventure. I highly recommend it.

Seconded, thirded and fourthed. Great game.

I'd recommend the Ben Jordan series, anything by Yahtzee (make sure you grab the special editions, which are free now), and any game from this site which has 3/5 cups or more.

I echo the recommendation of the games created by Yahtzee (specifically the John DeFoe series) and I also suggest Beneath a Steel Sky (get it here) though you'll want to get the ScummVM program itself to make it easier to play (available here).

There are a couple of other free games available in that first link (actually, both links go to the same page just at different point on it), namely Lure of the Temptress and Flight of the Amazon Queen which I would also suggest playing.

Beneath a Steel Sky is a great freeware game from Revolution Software, although they released an updated pay version for iPhone. As mentioned before, the Ben Jordan games are fun, and all of Yahtzee's games. I also heard that the Tale of Two Kingdoms game is good, but I have not played that one.

I got totally ninjaed with BTDT here. :D

I would add a game called Featherweight. I can't remember where I dug it up, but I'm sure it's possible to find it.
I'm not sure it's a really great adventure game, as I never got round to finishing it before my HDD died, and I haven't bothered to find it again.

However I really liked the art direction and feel of the game and would recommend looking into it.

Edit: Oh, and if you have a few $ to spare I'd get the next Ben and Dan game as well. It's called Time Gentlemen, Please.

You can download it here. I don't think that's the official site of it, but in my short search I couldn't find it, if there even is one.

Cheers! It's the same game, so it shouldn't matter if it's an official page. :)
I think I found it the first time through Stumbleupon, when it directed me to some adventure game blog that did a post on various free adventure games.

Ahhhh i came to recommend BTDT too! (All this attention proves how good it is)

Teenagent is good as well, and free from GOG.com. There are quite a few adventure games on there cheap, like Simon the Sorcerer and The Feeble Files

Hit the 'flash games' link at http://amanita-design.net

Not all are free (Samarost 2 I think you have to pay to unlock after a certain point, possibly the same deal for Samarost). And don't let the term "flash games" be offputting.

Sadly, Ben There, Dan That's sequel Time Gentlemen, Please is not free, though it is one of the funniest games I've ever played.

I can only recommend Out Of Order to everyone who hasn't played that yet.

The Goat in the Grey Fedora is one of the funniest games I've ever played. I especially loved the part when Nick got tied up in a chair, and then a scene ensues involving gladiator monkeys, an ancient underground civilization, and a giant squid.

Oh hey, I vaguely remember playing that years ago!
I can't recall anything from the game itself though, but the screenshots look familiar.
