Collections

edited March 2011 in General Chat
Collecting things is fun! Share em' with the class here!

Here's mine. It's a collection of the Mother series. Fairly complete. Wish I had the original box for Mother 1+2 as well as the deluxe version of Mother 3. Oh, and maybe Earthbound. lol

However, games I do have are complete with everything that it originally came with. I'm currently missing Mother 1+2's cart though. It's gotta be somewhere 'round here...

Well, I've showed this all before, but sure!

It's usually darker in here, so the cords don't look so bad.

And there's plenty more around here somewhere.

Collections! I collect so many things... mainly books, though. I currently have four overflowing bookshelves and a large stack of books that won't fit on the shelves. Maybe I'll post a picture if I ever get around to it...

I sort of collect CD's (as in music albums), owning around 150 in total.

    My Longest Journey collection
I also have a pretty good Sam & Max collection, but that's nothing unusual around here...

I've got a couple hundred PC games and several hundreds of movies, the latter being my main obsession.

I guess you could say I collect money. Not in any serious numismatic sense, but I like to keep a sampling of foreign currency from countries I've been to. Money is often quite pretty - I love the intricate little details.

I don't have anything particularly exotic to hand, but this is what I just emptied out of my purse (and it's just become obvious why I can never find the right money for anything):

    4628317495_30559c80da_o.jpg

I've been carrying that same Australian $5 note around everywhere for years. I'm not quite sure why, I just like to have it. And it's nice to be able to show it to people who've never seen a polymer note before.

I like keeping a bit of change from all the countries I've visit too. However, this proves to be annoying when I want to find a quarter amongst a bunch of foreign change. I should probably take them out of my wallet, huh?
  • edited May 2010
I do the same thing, sort of. With me it's more collecting foreign currency from wherever it's convenient. I have a coin that I think is 5 pesetas that I found in a house my family rented on vacation one year. Then I have one of each Canadian coin from my first trip out of the country (since my dad wouldn't let me keep any bills). And I have a 1 yen coin and a 100 yen coin that I asked my cousin to bring back from Japan when he asked if I wanted anything.

In other words, your collection is way more awesome. And apparently I'm the weird one for not carrying it with me.

I keep one of these in my wallet, to show off or to make silly bets...

Me too. Ever tried to make it float in a cup of water?

The thought never occurred to me, but I'm not at all surprised to see that it's possible. Those things are freaking light.

I don't carry my coin collection with me either but there really is no way I could. I have like all country Euro coins except for stuff like Vatican and Monaco coins, plus a fair amount of special edition ones, then I have special edition Canadian coins, then I have a whole lot of different American quarters that each have a different state on them, then I have some pre-euro coins (mostly Francs and Pesetas I believe)...
None of it is done in the "right way", though, they're not pristine or anything. And to me the fun of it is encountering the coins by chance, so I can't imagine buying them for my collection or asking someone else to do so or something, the whole fun is ending up with it in my change by complete accident.

Our money's freaking hilarious! You go to America and it's like *conformconformconformwehaveonlygreenmoneybwahahahaha* and then you go to Australia and it's like "Oh green money? Yeah, we have a green monies. But would you like some blue? or pink? What about red? yellow? there you go, $185!" oh, and you can't rip it either!

I have a rather big collection of Star Wars novels, both in English and Spanish. I have all the novels published in Spanish, and I'm trying to complete my collection with the original English novels that weren't pubished in Spanish. I'll post photos soon.
I don't have many Star Wars comics, though. But muy comic collection has the complete Asterix and Tintin series, and many, many Mortadelo comics.

I love seeing complete collections. They make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Like when I purchased the last book that completed my Terry Pratchett collection I just stood back, looked at my bookshelf and thought, "This is good."

I don't really collect anything, I mean I have books, games, DVD's, CD's and all that craic. But I don't buy them to collect them, I buy them to enjoy them. Personally the less stuff I can have cluttering up my place at the moment the better. Maybe someday when i've mastered the cosmos i'll start a quirky collection of some sort
