Want adventure gamers in my Xbox360 friends list...

edited July 2010 in General Chat
Um, hi.. So, I know this is pathetic but, hear me out...

I don't have any adventure gamers in my friends list :( [Xbox360] and well I would like to change that... if possible...

There was this one German Monkey Island player, but he always said his friends list was full, so he never added me... Anytime I see someone with MI in their history it's usually a 0 gamerscore :( Also I was playing Snoopy Flying Aces and someone with a Max [season one] avatar shot me down, so I return the favor with my Zombie Max [season 2] avatar... Then I send a friend request, which was denied.

So anyways, more to the point... Like I said it'd be cool to have some people in my friends list that are into adventure games also. It may be a shot in the dark but I figure what the hell... My GamerTag is Shinda33. Send me a request if you want. :o

Oh and other forum members, feel free to post your gamertags too if you want...

There might be a space in it. I always forget if it's my PSN or my XBL that has a space.

I wish I had an xbox360. Although it would be mostly, just to have another way to play Monkey Island. :p

I do have a question, that can probably be answered here (no need to make a new thread then).

I have a couple of friends who have an xbox360 and one friend who has a PS3. Is there any way for me to buy them SMI and LR? Or because it is a download/live thing only, I can only give them credits toward it?

You can buy the Xbox 360 version via Amazon and get a code able to be redeemed on any Xbox 360.

I don't think they offer the same service for PSN titles, though.

Well, our TV is being delivered on Tuesday Aussie time, so we'll probably have everything set up the following day or 2, so I'll create my XBOX Live account and you can add me, or I'll add you, whatever happens first.

    Cool man, thanks.

I've gotta remember to add all you other fine folks, but I keep forgetting.

Lol I don't know I never got that to work, sorry.

Did you get connected to Xboxlive successfully though, through your console? [that can be a pain during first time setup]

What is it yer tryin to do on Windows Live? Hmmm assuming you're trying to setup windows live? or do you mean setting up your account with your laptop? I may be confused.

    So is it still TalesOMonkeyIsl?

In any case, the Xbox.com page should be able to answer any questions you have. It's actually a pretty good site, despite the fact that it's somewhat confusing to navigate sometimes. Good thing there's a site map.

What I mean is I hit "sign in to xbox marketplace" on my console, and I hit "test connection" and it always fails. I've followed youtube vids telling me to bridge connections, but that doesn't work, either.

Ahhh ok mine failed about 100 times before I got it working too, don't let it stress you too much.

What type of modem? I mean, is it just a single modem? If it is, you'll need to give your Xbox the same MAC address as your laptop, so your modem thinks your Xbox is your laptop, basically. Also check the I.P. address and subnet + gateway, all that stuff. You might want to make the I.P address static, or not. I forget which one. It can get pretty confusing, but once you get it all setup properly it will be very simple.

Have you checked the FAQ's on the Xbox site? Not everyone's setup will be the same.

    Good luck.

edit: assuming you have a single connection modem, try this:

Find out the MAC address [even if it's a PC, it has a MAC address] of your laptop.
Give your Xbox the same exact MAC address.
Make sure all your I.P. addresses are set to automatic [on your Xbox]
Unplug your modem, for about 30 seconds.
Make sure your ethernet cable is plugged into your powered off console.
Plug in modem and let it boot up, once it's booted up
Turn on Xbox, and try to connect.

This should do the trick, unless you have a router or something, in which case I have no idea what you would need to do...

Ok then, how do I find that stuff? Also, I have a modem-router, and we do only have one in the house.

Hmmmm, I don't know much about routers. I forget how to find the MAC address, but I know it's pretty simple. There is a how to on the Xbox FAQ page, but I think if you have a router you don't need to worry about that part. I'm not sure, I'd check the faq's at xbox.com. You'll get it figured out eventually. :)

oh and you should be able to set your I.P.'s to automatic from your connection settings within the xbox.

I put in all the info and it still didn't work. Do I still need to have my xbox plugged into my router, cause thats not an option for me.
  • edited July 2010
Hmmm, I thought you'd have it set up by now. Sorry man.

Have you tried not using the router and just setting the modem straight up to your Xbox? That might be your best bet for now.

The faq at xbox.com has all the info.

No, I don't have a modem and a router, I have a modem-router, meaning that it is one device that has both a modem and a router built into it, and that has to be connected to my Mum's computer and I use a USB adapter for my internet, and I can't have another modem-router in the house because it interferes with the whole internet. I'm thinking of just trading in my XBOX 360 for the slim model, which has built-in WIFI and 250GB HDD.

I'm... er... StarEye. I'll be sure to accept invitations next time I turn on my Xbox. I'm mostly using the PS3.
