Should Telltale make a Grim Fandango game?
Following in the wake of Telltale's sequels to classic LucasArts games Sam & Max and Monkey Island, the next on their list should be the classic Grim Fandango. Do you agree?

I don't really think that needs to happen either. It wouldn't add enough to the game to warrant itself.
It's notoriously difficult to get the original game running on newer PCs. A Special Edition remake would not only open the game up to a new market there, but also Xbox / PS3 / Ipad ports etc.
Get a Schafer commentary track on there too, and I'm sold.
A remake isnt needed as the game still looks/plays good and it's still easy to find (Amazon have it brand new for £6 ($10-ish) ) and it runs fine on Vista
The only problem I see with that is that the games visuals would suffer. The only thing that was rendered in real-time were the characters. The backgrounds were pre-rendered and for Telltale to match that would most likely mean you would need higher-end hardware to run it.
I would much rather have a Grim Fandango Special Edition that had rerendered graphics in hi-def. But who knows whether all the model files still exist.
This is how I feel as well.
On my Vista it runs perfectly just the menu's screw up control wise.
What timing issues do you encounter, JP? I can install and run the game fine, but I haven't played through it completely yet on my current system so if there's a known problem I'd like to be aware of that before I engage in such an endeavor.
It would be cool if ScummVM would also run the 3d Lucasarts adventures.
Just download the patch
It works all most perfectly
Really? I acquired this game at great effort and expense, and found it bug-ridden even with the patch to run it on mdoern comptuers; also too damn difficult and just plain boring, so I gave up and haven't gone back to it in months. Very disappointing.
Try using CPU-killer to get it working.
Agreed, it can still be a little unwieldy on modern machines. I think Lucasarts should just re-release it on Steam (although I wouldn't mind some concept art/music work, those are a really nifty part of the SEs)
As for the rest of your comment, bollocks. GF has one of the most engaging, humorous, and well-written stories of all-time. The sometimes slower, more dramatic pacing is straight from film noir. If it's not your cup of tea, fine. But boring? Please.
I'd definitely buy a SE version of Grim Fandango by Telltale.
I think this is the best idea. As someone said earlier, it would make more people aware of the game as well.
Ah yes, here: Grim Fandango?
I think I've said before that personally I'm contend with Telltale leaving these old classics alone and instead developing some new settings. They definitely have the talent to come up with great stuff of their own. As far as I'm concerned the tale of Grim Fandango is complete, and I wouldn't like to see them spin it out until the franchise has been drained of all its potential.
A remake would be a waste of effort and a sequel wont work
Some one else is all ready doing that http://www.dott2.de/
But I would prefer something more professional
Sorry with the delayed reply.
Hm, can't remember, but I didn't play it long on my Vista. My laptop's a bit screwy so I decided to move it to my desktop, which I forgot to install.
Tim Schaffer himself recently blogged about it (and took some better pictures than I did).
