Monkey Island Ep: 1 Game freezes Mac

I'm playing Monkey Island - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (Bought for the Mac (yay!) in the Steam sale (yay!)) and I'm at the Dark Ninja Dave puzzle. After I buried him I turned to walk away and the game froze and, unusually, so did the entire mac (usually I can force quit a frozen game.) I restarted and reloaded the game after verifying it on Steam. This time, when I completed the maze and approached the hole the game and Mac froze up again. I verified the game cache after that and no problems were found.
Is this a problem others have had?

Edit: I deleted the game and reinstalled it. Problem fixed. Thanks for a great game. Looking forward to new episodes.
