ToMI - Ep 1: Jungle - Game Bug?

Hi,
I followed Medlocks map and got to the Portal. But when I was at the portal I thought i couldnt do anything (despite having the parrot, the bottle breaker etc). So I left it thinking i could return to the portal.

now im back in town, with no medlocks map, only the eye of the manatee, and when i follow the steps online for the map to get back to the portal it wont work. (im presuming because i dont hve the map to use on the altar).

does this mean i cant go back to the portal even though i need to use the bottle breaker? Because that would mena starting over, and thats not cool.

    the Portal should be selectable on the overview map now that you found it once. Have you searched for it?
