Telltale Pilot Program

edited July 2010 in General Chat
Are there any other games slated for the Pilot program aside from Puzzle Agent? Is Puzzle Agent acting as doubly as a pilot for its own season as well as a pilot for the Pilot program?

Well, there's a fair bit going on at Telltale presently, what with Sam & Max, BTTF, Jurassic Park game ports to new platforms, maybe future Puzzle Agent episodes, (plus the stuff we don't know about).

I think it would confuse the market to have another Pilot game announced so soon. I imagine Telltale will decide what to do with Puzzle Agent before new Pilot Program titles are announced.

I hope if they do make a full season, they give the people who bought the pilot a discount.

I hope they pilot more "adult" titles like Puzzle Agent. It sounds silly, but that game gave me goosebumps.

HEY! You guys should totally pilot an R. L. Stein Goosebumps game. :D

You can not tell me you didn't get the heeblies when you read those stories about the dummy.

I think they'll just use the pilot program as and when they need it rather than trying to put games into it as often as possible.

Sure, because I was four years old.

Then it might be a good game to market at younglings?

Well definitely, and I wouldn't preclude them from that! But if they wanted to
    pilot more "adult" titles

...then "Goosebumps" wouldn't be the first thing to come to mind. Or at least, it shouldn't.

The books about camps used to creep me out quite a bit. In terms of future games, lots of ideas have come about (Indiana Jones and Discworld would be AWESOME) from forum members, but the pilot program would likely be for relatively unknown/original titles, where telltale doesn't know how popular they'll be. I'd love more and more original stories and characters.

Ah Goosebumps. Great stories. The first one, Say Cheese and Die, and Monster Blood were among my favourites.

He was saying that Puzzle Agent was a more "adult" title and that it gave him goosebumpbs, that's what reminded him of Goosebumps :P

Well yes, but I'll be damned if it wasn't the weirdest and most self-defeating leap of logic that I've seen this side of cable news commentators.

Well, since one-year-olds can unlock an iPhone, then it's only a matter of time.

To be quite honest, I'd be really surprised if a one year old couldn't unlock an iPhone. I've never owned one, but don't you just have to slide your finger across the screen?

Yes. Cats can do that on iPads.

Goosebumps was just Tales from the Crypt for toddlers.

Tales from the Crypt, on the other hand, would make an amazing TTG series. :D

    "Self-defeating leap of logic."

Brother homeboy, I was making what we call in the business a post that contained ironic humour. I wanted to genuinely suggest that more "adult" (ie. creepy) titles be developed by TTG.

Then I suggested Goosebumps which are neither creepy nor adult. I then went on to say "heeblies" as in "heeblie-jeeblies" as those that catch Stro-Bro in fits from time to time, as you do have a screen name and avatar related to Peasant's Quest, a game developed by the Brother Chaps.

Irony is common in speech an in print. You should look for it from time to time, my dear. Class dismissed.

I vote that the discussion ends here so we don't inadvertently TEAR THIS FAMILY APART!

Though it is nice seeing Dashing get pwned due to his trademark snarky outbursts.

Please, stop the shouting, the neighbours might here. I'm already on shaky ground at the country club and I don't want to have little Cindy marrying beneath her class. How else will she meet men to court her? We have to keep up appearances for at least another seven years.

So yes, Fealiks, we have to stop this conversation. I apologize deeply and sincerely.

    *crickets*

So anyway, I was thinking that Tales of the Cryptkeeper as previously suggested would make an awesome series. Tell Tale seems pretty active with their community and it'd be sick if people of influence would lobby for this. I'm behind it 100%.

Other possible franchises that would be great to jeeblify me would be The Outer Limits or the Twilight Zone. I think they would be pretty easy to pilot because each "episode" could essentially be self-contained. No need to extend narrative continuity throughout an entire series.

But then again, pilots make a good hook. I want the mystery of Scoggins revealed right away.

The Twilight Zone could indeed make for good episodic games. I'd love to see an original, more fantasy (as in very fictional as opposed to LoTR style fantasy) based IP, though... Especially if it was 2D and Ryan lead the art direction. *drools*

Edit: "speculative fiction", that's the term I'm looking for. Thanks Wikipedia. "Fantasy" always conjures images of Orcs and Hobbits for me.

I think Mystery Science Thearter 3000 would make a good game it could be a fake old horror movie and they insult you and the plot as you go along XD

I can kind of see the concept, but I think it would be crazy difficult to implement it effectively as a series.

I'm new to Tell Tale's titles, and am getting the sense that humour is a big part of what they're all about. Whether it's a fundamental for their games to contain a lot of humour or that the humour present in their titles is just a side-effect of having a bunch of clever people working on a project together that element is present and in seeming abundance in their titles.

So I can see why MST3K would be cool, but difficult to make. I think the structure of the MST universe doesn't really lend itself to the creepiness that I dug in Puzzle Agent and would love to see in some new series (perhaps to be piloted).

Earlier in the thread somebody said that original content would probably be the best way to go. I'm inclined to agree now. TTG's team seems clever as heck, and I think they could create a universe with a story and content that would creep me out without having to license any other franchises.

As I've said, I'm new to TTG, and grabbing franchises may be a part of their marketing strategy, but I think these fine individuals could deliver with original content.

    Here's winky: ;)

Off-topic: you may want to change your nickname, PP (pm a mod or post in this thread for that). A guy was banned once for a suggestive name like that, and at least his was subtle.

I think the pilot program is for Telltale original games. But I could be very wrong.

Thanks for the heads up. If the mods come to me and ask me to do so I'll gladly bend.
