Say, imagine you preordered Tales of Monkey Island.
Imagine that the time to redeem you pre-order goodies came through an email which by the way you can't find anymore.
Imagine you didn't order them because your Debit Card was depleted and you were too lazy to pour money in.
Are your chances to get the pre-order collectors' DVD gone down the drain? Or am I missing something here.

    Pre-ordering allowed you to get the Purcell slipcover, which you still have. Whenever you order the DVD, you'll get the Purcell slipcover.
    The Deluxe Edition has nothing to do with preorders and is currently out of stock, possibly definitely. You might have missed your chance to get that, but can still get the DVD and slipcover, just not the extra goodies.

    So the Pre-Order offer was just for the slipcover, and the other Goodies you had to pay for even if you preordered, correct?

    Yes, if you pre-ordered, you will get the Purcell slipcase with your free DVD, for the cost of shipping. Anything else, you have to pay extra for. Unfortunately, the Deluxe Edition (which you also had to pay extra for) is sold out and may not return.

    It's OK, I wasn't planning on getting the Deluxe Edition anyway :)
