I don't think you should be reading this thread if you want to avoid spoilers.

Anyway, the bit where they all accept their fate and just start holding hands when they're going into the fire was unexpectedly dark.

I thought it was a good film, but it really played on the cheese card at the end - maybe would have been better without it as an entertaining film rather than one that tried to go too deep, was a tad to much compared to the films that came before it.

The movie made me want to cry. I'm not embarrassed by that though. I'm actually glad. Anything less than Toy Story 3 making me want to cry would have been a dissapointment.

Toy Story wins the award of best trilogy. Why? Because it's the only trilogy in which all three movies are very good and in which the final film actually gives a good ending.

Agreed. If you didn't grow up watching them then I could see how it would come off as cheese. But for someone like me who watched them over and over when he was little and continued to watch them from time to time as he got older it was pure epicness.

I hope they stop with 3 because that movie had the best send off I've ever seen.

    Yup, very good movie. However
what happened to the monkeys? They weren't seen after the intro anymore.

But no cry stuff, that's for The Lion King ;).

Chuckles the Clown was excellent :D

Also during 'that' scene, the girl I was with with leaned over to me and whispered in my ear
if they die i'll be fuckin' rippin'!!
talk about sucking the drama out of it :p

It was a great film. So much so that it is calming my inhibitions about Pixar sequels somewhat. I'm sort of looking forward to Cars 2 and Monsters Inc. 2 now.

I'm so glad that this movie was just as good as its predecessors. There have been far too many poor trilogies lately and it was nice to have a good one for a change.

Loved the movie a lot! A perfect bookend to the trilogy. The finale really brought tears to my eyes. (although the choking up already started when
Buzz', the hero who always managed to find a way out of a dangerous situation, just helplessly looked at Jessy and they all started holding hands
    ...)

Yup, we were debating if it was the Pizza Planet delivery guy from the first one "Hey dude the pizza's are getting here!" but it's Sid... Wikipedia says so at least, and it makes sense what with the timescale and all

I really enjoyed the movie and Im so glad they didnt go with the original idea of having all the buzz lightyears recalled to japan or some such BS.

On a side note I also really enjoyed Shrek 4 , Shrek 3 was so bad I didnt have much hope for 4.

That movie had tears dripping down my face. When I came out of the cinema my friend turned to me and asked me if I was ok and all I was still teary so my reply was "Yeah... *sniff* it-it was good, oh god I can't stop crying, damn you pixar!" God bless them and I wish them the best of luck with all their future movies :D

It was a brilliant sequel to a brilliant franchise.

It seems only Pixar is capable of making good sequels to kid's movies...

    I haven't actually seen it yet.. :(

    DVD, anyone?

I promised myself I wouldn't cry when watching Toy Story 3...but that moment at the end when
Andy passes the torch to Bonnie
    , I was blubbering like a baby.
  • edited August 2010
I promised myself I wouldn't cry, too. I broke that promise the moment
Buzz did that thing in that one scene

I actually don't cry with these kind of movies, and with Toy Story 3 it was no different. Sure, I get the emotion of it and all that, I just didn't cry with it.

This. It was moving, though. I think it's a little strange (personally) to cry during a movie. It just seems like a silly thing for me to do. I understand why others do it and I don't think they're being silly (unless you're a complete sap, like my wife, and are moved to tears at the slightest touching line of dialogue somebody says then I will laugh at you), but I can't ever see my self crying over fiction.

Considering the amount of drama in the movie, do any of you think it was too dramatic? I mean, it is supposed to be a kids movie, right? Or, well, family movie I guess. But it is pretty epically dramatic for even a family movie. I don't think it's over-dramatic personally, but I can see how others might. And they do.

You didn't cry at all? I pretty much burst into tears the moment
that guy punched me in the jaw for "crossing the line" when I kissed his girlfriend during the trailers

    I don't think that counts.

I found it a nice and entertaining movie but also nothing which impressed me in somekind of way or where you had to talk and think about afterwards but i'm happy everytime i can listen to Randy Newman in a cinema.

At the cinema we were watching the movie the quality was kind of meh, dunno if this is due to the cinema, which seemed to be alright on a first view, the digital format or the 3d but compared to some old style movies the resolution and the quality of the film wasn't so good.

I'm still not convinced of 3d movies as long as the quality is on this level, if you have the time to follow an object into the depth then things don't always look this good, and you have to wear those weird 3d glasses. They're also too heavy for children's noses for whom they don't offer special glasses here. Definately needs some further steps in evolution.

I freaking can't stand Randy Newman.
