Wrong Dave Grossman! There are a few of them, including our designer Dave Grossman, gourmet chef Dave Grossman, and some sort of other Dave Grossman who likes killing a thing, or something.

So I guess the last one is OUR Dave...

I can't tell which Dave Grossman that's supposed to be in the comic. There's no newspost associated with that strip. The Penny Arcade Wiki assumes it's a reference to the game developer, although I can't imagine what he would have been doing in the year 2000 that would have caught their attention. The drawing in the comic doesn't look particularly similar to any one Dave Grossman, but there are no noticeable traits that would really rule "our" Dave Grossman out entirely.

I think it is Telltale's Dave Grossman.

EDIT: So much for me noticing the post before mine had this link as well...

But that doesn't answer the question: how is Dave Grossman's ass like the DMV?

I always pictured him taller... Well, he used to have legs, I guess.

I think it's Lt Col. Dave Grossman, and probably because of this and other things. But I don't know for sure. It could be about the guy who makes fun adventure games.

Yeah, it's probably Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. Notice the No Ghost Pac-Man logo on his coffee mug. Our Dave Grossman wouldn't turn his back to gaming.

Well, at least there's more of a motive for running over this guy. The timing is about right too. Around the time of the comic he was apparently fairly actively voicing his opinion on video game violence. Makes more sense than running over and severely crippling game designer Dave Grossman for no reason.

Well, the motivation could be that he bailed on Monkey Island and then Escape came out.

    Must not be it.

So this Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is just a Jack Thompson clone?

My parents gave me the Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill book. The only reason I still have it is because it has the name Dave Grossman on it. The irony amuses me.

Who knew there was more than one Dave Grossman? Maybe they're opposite Twins or something. Our Dave, of course, being the good one.
