1st anniversary of Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 2

It's been a year ago today when Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay was released. Here's the link to the game script for Chapter 2 that I had created and sent to GameFAQs on May 4. Oh, and I made an improvement on the script just yesterday. There is still one minor tweak that I need to fix later, but otherwise, enjoy! :D (WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!)

What exactly is so wonderful about that Episode? I mean it's fun and hilarious but I don't think it deserves a celebration until 20 years later.

I remember after chapter two was released, everyone was raving about it, saying that it was so much better than 'Launch of the Screaming Narwhal'. But, now, for some reason it is everyone's least favourite, and it's always at the bottom of all of the 'which was your favourite episode?' polls. It's strange, perhaps 'Siege of Spinner Cay' just had a certain effect, a certain novelty about it that gradually wore off after the initial experience - like 'Avatar'. Maybe it applies to anything with blue, alien-looking creatures in it :).

in my opinion, I think they got better every month, so as each one came out I would think it was the best one and then the next would come out and that would be even better. I just think they improved so much; comparing Screaming Narwhal and Pirate God you can really see how far the series came.

Yeah, I remember when I just downloaded Chapter 2, and started playing it, and then that duel began, I thought that was the most awesome thing in the world :D

Anyway, it was a great episode, and, tbh, I was actually quite disappointed by Chapter 3, I liked it less than Chapter 2. All that manatee stuff was kind of dull for me. I DID love the developing relationships between Guybrush and Morgan. But Chapter 4 was just awesome, and Chapter 5 was very good and didn't have a cluttered and disappointing ending (which is the first non-disappointing MI ending in my book)

I liked chapter 2 for the fact that you could move around freely within an area of about three different islands and some smaller isles. In chapters 1, 3 and 4, you are pretty much trapped either to Flotsam Island, or in the belly of a manatee. You could run around pretty freely in chapter 5, granted, but then - the lighting was SO much nicer in sunset - time chapter 2. :D

Yay! That´s the feeling I have! but Chapter 3 has better puzzles and no labyrinths.

I completely agree. The gradual improvement was so great to see as the game progressed. And I also agree that each chapter was superior to the one that preceded it. For me, the episodes are as follows:

    RotPG>tTaEoGT>LotL>SoSC>LotSN

Yes, that was one of the very best parts of the entire season. I loved the dialogue, I loved the character animation, I loved the puzzle itself, I loved the music - I just loved everything about that part of the game.

Yeah, the island hopping was great, and very reminiscent of 'Four Map Pieces', when you were traveling between Booty, Scabb and Phatt with Captain Dread. I was really happy to see that sort of thing return in 'Siege of Spinner Cay'.

Well, I loved the night-time, gloomy atmosphere in Pirate God, but yes, that sunset was undeniably awesome.

I'm feeling the exact same way. If only I had a little more free time, I would definitely be going off to play it :). You almost forget how damn good the game was until you start talking about it in depth and reminiscing about the good times.

BTW, I didn't cover Guybrush making LeChuck ride on his "claw thingie" because I needed the dialogue for that in a video clip on YouTube and I couldn't find it. I did, however, cover the "Look at... yourself" dialogue and the "Don't worry, I'll pee first" dialogue with Guybrush and Elaine when he says that he's about to leave with her. Weird.
