Another S&M Episode 5 problem.

Well hello there children!

I have trouble running The City That Dares Not Sleep.
I'm very frustrated, might not be able to sleep either.

First it installs correctly, but the icon is just a generic Windows ugly icon.
Then the login window gets stuck. I tried the Telltale Login and Serial Number Unlocks, but no luck.
The Manual Unlock is ineffective, too.

What's happenin'? I downloaded the installer and installed the game several times, but no can do.

Help!

By the way, I'm running on Windows 7 x64, and all other S&M episodes always worked well.

    Can you describe in a little more detail what happens when you try the different unlock methods? Do you get any error message?

    Telltale Log In and Serial Number Unlock stay stuck on the "Unlocking, please wait" thing. The little loading circle doesn't spin.
    The Manual Unlock, on the other hand, very briefly states "Unlock Unsuccessful".

    The connection might get blocked by some Security Software.

    Please try to unlock during a clean boot.

    Booting clean in Windows Vista / 7:
    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG --> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup
    3. Uncheck Load Startup Items
    4. Select the Services tab
    5. Check Hide all Microsoft services
    6. Click Disable all
    7. Click on OK
    8. Click Restart.
    9. After reboot, run the game to see if it works.

    After performing the necessary steps, restore your system by doing the following:

    1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG--> Click OK
    2. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup
    3. Click Ok
    4. Click Yes, when asked to restart your computer

    But I reinstalled Episode 4, to see if the problem was present.
    The pre-game interface works, so it's probably a problem with Episode 5 installer or something.
    The "corrupted" icon seems to point to that.

    Are you sure the MSconfig thing is necessary?

    I download sam and max it gust be fore it instates the game the at 99 potent it stops saying my download is damaged it the 16 time I have download it so pleas help

    Wow man, are you drunk? Even the Google translator would make more sense!

    And by the way, I think there are other threads with people having your problem.
    Mine is a bit different.

    DjNDB, I tried the MSconfig method.
    Didn't do anything.
    I'll try redownloading the install.

    In the meantime, any advice is welcome!

    Still not working.
    The icon, at least, is normal, but it won't log me in.
    I checked the firewall, tried other episodes (they worked).

    What the hell?
    And I seem to be the only one having this problem.
    But judging by the other topics on the forum,
    doesn't it seem like Telltale needs to fix the installer or something?

    Uh-oh, the icon has gone bad again!
    Well, I sent a Manual Unlock request to the support team.
    I was doing it wrong, pasting the REQUEST code where the real code has to be typed.

    I don't know of a similar case yet.
    I think your best option is to write to support@telltalegames.com, state the situation and request a manual unlock code as described in the launcher while you're at it.

    Okay, it worked, I guess the topic can be closed.
    I find it really strange that the pre-game window is unable to connect.
    All the other episodes can...

    Oh well, as long as I can enjoy the Grand Finale for this excellent season, I'm not going to complain!
