Sam & Max 305: dead end (spoilers)

Inside Max' treasure room, I've tried to pick up the cables for the second time. Sam turns into a whatever it is and starts sliding uncontrollably, bouncing off the walls. For the last five minutes he's stuck in a corner while making that whirring sound, I can't control him with mouse or keyboard, he doesn't revert back to regular form (and I can't click the chocolate bar) and I can't even quit to menu or pause the game.

    Managed to reproduce, this time going from cactus to thing. I think turning into it while holding one of the directional buttons locks up the control completely.
