What is up with my ipod?

For some reason, my ipod blacked out on me. And then when I was plugging it into itunes, it then tells me I need to update/restore it. When I do that after countless times but however it cant be restored because of an unknown error occured. What is up with my ipod? is there a way to fix this?

    I dropped mine a few times (on purpose) to jolt the hard drive. It worked again for a few months.

    Question: What iPod cable are you using? Apple, or another brand(specify).

    I was having lots of iPod problems, and I found out that they were because my third-party cord didn't have those "button-locks" on the connector.

    I'm using the Apple recovery.

    You can take it to a mechanic, he/she will tell you what to do.. It might got viruses from a computer or from an unsafe song
