Tales of Monkey Island audio and cursor issues

edited September 2010 in Game Support
I just bought and downloaded Tales of Monkey Island, but the video and audio are out of sync and my cursor is so hard to control, even on the main menu page. Attached is my DirectX Diagnostic File.

Card name: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

You have one of those low performance integrated Intel graphics chips.
Try reducing the graphics quality to 1 in the game menu. If that's not enough, reduce the screen resolution.

You can also try installing the latest Intel Graphics Driver.

    changing the graphics quality
    Start the game.

Select "Settings". Click the red arrows until you see "graphics settings".
Set "quality" to 1 and test the game.

I did some further research. Lenovo doesn't provide recent audio drivers. I found some from Dell for your audio chip (Analog Devices ADI 198x).

If you are a bit tech savvy you can install them, by adding your model to the "\i386\Vista\ADIHdAud.inf". Just replace e.g.
    %HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc3% = HD_1984, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1984&subsys_10280211

    %HdAudioFunctionDriver.ADICodec.DeviceDesc3% = HD_1984, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1984&subsys_17AA20BB

That driver is from 07/20/2009 and might contain a bunch of fixes. This little mod is at your own risk of course. In case it doesn't work as expected make sure you are able to restore your previous sound driver.
On the other hand it has the potential to fix some of your sound issues.
