Next Adventure Bundle with QFG?

edited September 2010 in General Chat
Since You guys managed to get the rights to redistribute Kings Quest, Is there any hope for another bundle with Quest for Glory?

What about you guys, anyone else want to see the next bundle include the Quest for Glory series?

With Telltale selling nearly 2,000 less bundles than the insanely lowered revised expectations(5,000 as opposed to the original 500,000), Telltale would be pretty stupid to try the adventure bundle stunt again.

Most of the QFG games are sadly riddled with bugs that were never fixed.

ouch... that sux... I was glad to get the Kings Quest series back form the dead and was hoping to see other out-of-print series like QfG or Space Quest...

Odd, I played QFG 3 all the way to the end, only encountering 2 bugs (one being "no voice" but I think it was because I had the floppy edition not the CD and the second one only occurred if you tried to walk off the cliff during the final battle (obviously not what your supposed to do), so it didn't effect the game)

Likewise I played QFG 5 most of the way through (got hung up on the balloon quest IIRC) and never had a problem...

    That's why fan patches exist.

I never understood why Vivendi didn't re-release the QFG franchise along with KQ, SQ, PQ and LSL back in 2006. I was hoping GOG would remedy this situation but alas, it now looks unlikely that will happen.

My thoughts (based on speculation from verious sources) was QFG 1-3 were popular, QFG 4 flopped, and QFG 5 was only released to appease a horde of screaming fans who had heard rumors of it's development prior to the fiscal failure of QFG 4. (iirc there was actually a QFG 6 *planned*, but was never completed (likely barely even started) and got dropped when PnC games started losing popularity... or more likely when QfG 4 went belly-up)

I liked QFG 4 the best, but it is the buggiest of all the games, and there are several game stopping bugs in it. I recently replayed QFG3, which is a great game, it doesn't too many bugs, only crashed a few times. QFG5 has a lot of bugs, maybe more than QFG4, but it was alright if you could get through those.

This, or learn how to market better.

You can get the Space Quest series on Steam or Direct2Drive (and until recently Good Old Games).

I can't find Quest for Glory anywhere, though.

Didnt know that, I'll have to check it out, thanks! ((still pining for QfG 2/4 since I never played them...))

I extremely hope to see another adventure bundle, and expect almost as much to see Quest for Glory in it. I really wish that the games will finally be released again.
(Also, check out the thread I made about expectations for the next adventure bundle, if you expect something different than no adventure bundle.)

QFG is not available anywhere yet. It was not one of the game series to get a WinXP-compatible release in 2006 by Vivendi like PQ, SQ, KQ, and LSL had.

I believe QFG 1-3 are still available on Gametap.

Gametap is a sinking ship. Tech support is almost non-existent. There are frequent threads about billing errors in the forums. Hundreds of games have been dropped from the service, with little notice, when licensing deals fell through. The conversion of games to 64-bit compatibility has apparently stopped. The interface is glitchy and installation of games can be hit-or-miss. The blog doesn't update.

And that's just the Unlimited Play subscriptions. The "Download to Own" service is even worse. Many users buy games and then wait days for the unlock codes to come through.

After three years (at a reduced rate of $60 a year) I'm canceling my subscription this month. $60 can buy a lot of games if you shop sales on Steam, GOG, D2D, GamersGate, Telltale and others.
