Gamepad help?

I'm trying to use a PS3 controller for PC gaming. I have almost everything already set up, with one problem. I can't map looking up or down to anything but the mouse. Not the keys or the controller. Everything else works fine, even looking left and right. Can someone please help? The game I'm trying to play is Portal.

Oh ive had this problem before. Activate the console(check controls on how to do this) and type in exec PS3 controler. I use 360 controlers but that should be right.

Wait, do I need to say "PS3 comtroller" or the exact name of the USB device?

Just tried it, only comes up as "can't exec PS3". Doesn't mention the controller in the command that appears.

Vista(32-bit).

Did you download the sixaxis driver?

I did download these files:
libusb0.dll
libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1(installed)
ps3sixaxis_en(run once)

The instructions I used are here:

Am I supposed to do something with "libusb0.dll"?

By the way, if it helps, the controller does show up in "Game Controllers" in Control Panel.

I know this seems like a generic response, but try Xpadder. I have no idea why it wouldn't be working (as it really should be) & messing around with .dll files is dangerous business.
