edited October 2010 in General Chat
As none of you were probably aware at all, (OK, maybe1 or 2 of you) I ama Boy Scout, and we make our livings selling popcorn. It's that time of year again, and I need to sell enough so that I can continue buying buttloads of discounted games over steam. If you want to either keep me happy or want lots of yummy food yourself, the best ay is to go here. http://www.trails-end.com/estore/home_alt.jsp?_requestid=1075204

Once you get to the site, then enter this code: 9154015
Then, i can keep my addiction to TTG products going and you get yummy food!

...Yes, I know I'm a bigger sellout than Bubs, but still...

Aren't you supposed to go out into the sun light for that? We did in my day...

now we can do it with the power of the interwebs... creepy, huh? Of course, I do still personally ask people that I actually know.

you can do that through the power of intarwebz now.

I shouldn't have stopped going to BoyScouts then

Yeah, I remember doing it in the cold and in the rain, maybe even snow...

Scouts these days...when you guys tie knots is that on the computer too?

How about camping? Is that done in WOW?

...no. It's just the sales. We still get outdoors. Also-thanks to the handful users who got stuff from me!

I wish you luck, and if you were part of any other organization I might help you out, but I flat-out refuse to support the Boy Scouts due to some of their practices.

Scouts was fun, the only time we fought was at camps, and it was usually between a regular guy and the guy everyone thought was a jerk. I had some good fights, for the rest of my life had no more...

Good fights. Blood drawing fights. Good stuff.

I got some "Scouting" stamps at the Post Office (U.S.). Is that good enough?
  • edited October 2010
...good enough for me! While we're talking rank,I'm getting the paperwork for my Eagle scout project done.

My cousin is working on Eagle, he got heart really quickly, he's two years younger than me.

He aspires to be a marine.

He is going to meet his goal, I know it.

Boyscouts are owned by the Mormon church and are against all non-christian religions and homosexual/bisexuals (to the point of indirectly teaching kids to discriminate against them)

I'm sorry, but I just cant support an organization like that.

Atheists as well, but that's not the thing that bothers me. If this were a private group and they did all this, I'd just let them mind their own business I guess. I still do let them mind their own business, but I just wish they didn't get government support if they don't support everyone. They can do it. Girls Scouts do it, and they're inclusive while doing it.

Also, just to get things straight, Mormons don't own the Boy Scouts, just have the most troops by far because it's semi-mandatory for Mormon boys. But you know, whatever.

The difference here is that the money being donated is going to the original poster's troop or whatever. I honestly don't have a problem with it then. I don't have the money right now, and even then I'm not all that into popcorn, so I wish you the best on your sales.

Yeah, let's get this thread out of 'The Boy Scouts of America are bad' and 'The Boy Scouts of America' are good territory right now. A forum member just wanted to let us know he wanted to sell some popcorn.

    Deal?

Sorry, my fault. Just the politics (?) of the group leave a sour taste in my mouth, I'll try to keep from derailing future threads.

    @ Giant Trope:
Yes, good points, and I guess it could fall under "Hate the game, not the player" if the Group itself isn't getting kickbacks from it...

Are you always such a boy scout!?
    :p

Scouts was good, it taught me about BIG spiders, how to get in and out of a canoe in the water...how to swim, how to feed a fire in the pouring rain...respect for the elderly...how you forget how to tie knots...

We had fun playing in the woods, rivers, we'd have mud fights, throw socks at one another, etc etc, we'd do all kinds of good stuff and we'd make enormous fires.

We used to drag trees down out of the woods, just to burn them up. HAHA
