Need a new Graphics Card.

edited October 2010 in General Chat
Well I was too excessive at first, I need a good cheap-ish graphics card, as I just want to be able to run my games at max graphics. I hope someone has some ideas, as I am at a total loss.

So a good end graphics card, to a reasonable price. :)

A good card that is actually pretty cheap is the ATI Radeon HD 4850. That's the card I use, and I can tell you, it runs every new game out there really smoothly. I tested out COD 4 and Left 4 Dead, and they work really well on high settings, as well as Tales of Monkey Island and Sam and Max. It doesn't need a lot of power to run (about 450 W is the recommended amount) and it runs in any slot from PCI Express 1.0 onwards. Just make sure your power supply comes with a 6-pin PCI Express connector, otherwise, it won't run.

Sound good, the only problem I worked out is that my power supply is only 300 watts so I will need a new one of them as well. Good thing is that they are cheap. :)

I will look into that card, as it might be what I am looking for.

Never buy a cheap power supply!!! A bad PSU can kill all of the other components in your system, you don't want to increase the chances of that happening. Even if it's not harming other components, a cheap PSU can cause system instabillity.

That's not saying you need to get an expensive power supply, but read reviews and go for something mid-range.

Yeah, that card is great too. I still have that card in its box as I never got around to selling it after I got my new card. Hmm, I should probably do that...

So I thought I would let you know where this is coming to.

I thought the Graphics Card was enough, but my power supply is really bad, and so is my motherboard. It was a cheap computer I bought at a supermarket because my other one was about to break. And I had no real money to buy a real gamer computer.

But now that I earn money I can afford one, and at first I was really cheap and thought I could do with the card.
But now I am going to buy a completely new computer for real gaming, and I can't wait.

I really appreciate the responses, and I am sure others with graphics card problems will come here... Well maybe anyway.

I just thought I would not let you in the dark, see how nice I am. :D
