Will TellTale take on Simon The Sorcerer?
In the summer when The Games Company/PlayLogic/Silver-Style went bust, there was some talk about who might take on the license for Simon The Sorcerer. I read a rumour that TellTale Games might take it on and thought that would be excellent. I LOVE Simon The Sorcerer and I reckon nobody has done it justice since AdventureSoft. Simon 4 was good but spoiled by the voice-acting and I've never even managed to get my mits on 5.
Has anybody heard any more on this rumour? Does anyone know who has the rights to Simon now?
Come on, TellTale, I could trust you to do Simon properly. And I want the original voices back too. Anyone else?

Tell the truth, My first Monkey Island game was Launch of the Screaming Narwhal.
At least I've played Sam and Max for Hit the Road. In other words, Telltale games is the reason I know about some games, so if they did do Simon the Sorcerer I might check it out, and chances are I'd like it,
However, Simon has to be British else I'll account it as a failure no matter what.
Oh my, that made my day. It´s karma for ruining such a great franchise.
Even though i don't like the direction Telltale is taking, im sure they would make a decent job.
But then again, Telltale is more family oriented while Simon is definitely not. And trying to make Simon Family-friendly (kinda like that german studio did) is a mistake.
To be fair, Adventuresoft had already kind of ruined the franchise with Simon 3d.
And I don't see Telltale as being particularly family friendly, they certainly don't make kids games. I would say that Sam and Max is just as if not more "Adult" than Simon the Sorcerer ever was.
Everyone who hasn't tried the first two games - you're missing a treat. They're are absolute classics. Superior voice acting, funny scripts, great puzzles, beautiful artwork for its time. I can't pick between them. Seventeen years on from Simon 1 and he's still my favourite point & click of all time.
I don't think they even needed to make him 3D and I don't just mean the third game. 2D cartoon-style suited Simon. He just needed a few extra pixels!
Chris Barrie should also voice him. That'd be awesome.
Actually im part of the minority who thinks Simon 3D was good. Or at least not-so-bad.
I know it's visually horrible, and buggy and weird designed. But puzzles are fine, story is fine (minus the last chapter maybe), humor is fine. The character, the whole Simon thing it's still there.
It was a step backwards but it wasn't ruined...not until 4.
Yes, definitely. Chris Barrie IS Simon. I hope he remembers that he is. And of course the original Swampling would have to return. I love Swampling. I've still got my official merch Simon the Sorcerer t-shirt featuring him.
Please, TellTale, please, are you listening? We want you do do Simon.
