Mr. Bean

I was just thinking... what if...

A season of Mr. Bean games by Telltale!
Seems like it would be awesome to me, what with all the bizarre situations Mr. Bean's always getting himself into (especially in the animated series). And with their having made franchises as awesome and random as Homestar Runner and Wallace & Gromit into games, I kind of expect it could happen. :p
Thoughts?

Hmmm....could work out. But puzzle solving would become too illogical with Bean's unique use of items.

I like to see a more detective focused game season. Maybe a season of The X-Files. =)

I really don't think a Mr. Bean game would work. As far as I can tell the character is just an idiot who finds improbable ways to do ordinary things.

    Telltale already has that. CSI.

Hm, the puzzle solving thing could be an issue. It could be really fun if the hitch was stretching your mind to use the ordinary objects around you to complete simple tasks in ridiculously convoluted ways. I say that could be fun. Historically adventure games, when going for wacky logic puzzles, become frustratingly obtuse.

I think a Blackadder game would be much better.

But then again, I've never really found Mr. Bean all that funny.

So, he does things like an adventure game? :p

I think that this game could potentially work brilliantly! If it (like anything) were done right, which I'm sure it would be if Telltale were at the reigns. But I just think that Mr. Bean has just the right elements within it to be easily transformed into a good adventure game. Just a few reasons why I think it would work great:

Graphics - the graphics and artwork from the animated series look really cool, in my opinion, and I think that they'd look great for a 2D adventure game! But also, I think that the graphics could be easily altered and changed to look good in 3D as well, or perhaps even translated into 2.5D graphics like what we see in the 'Sly' games.

Puzzles - I think that the puzzles could actually work out really well, and I also think that Mr. Bean actually provides a lot of opportunity to create some great puzzles, as Mr. Bean is often focused around the man solving puzzles anyway. Yes, some of the solutions may turn out to be illogical, but there are so many adventure games with illogical or strange solutions, and the puzzles are somehow still doable and still fun. It just depends on how the puzzles are presented and how the solutions are hinted at. Even the most obscure situation in an adventure game can have a strange and simple solution if the objective is made clear to the player.

Humour - in my opinion, a good adventure game must have humour, especially if it's something light-hearted. And Mr. Bean is packed with great slapstick humour, and excellent unexpected occurrences which result in humour. And I'm sure Telltale can create this style of humour for a Mr. Bean game, especially seeing as how much of that sort of humour is seen in Sam & Max.

...there are more reasons, but I have to remember them :).

OH. EM. GEE. Yes, and I love you.

They are making a Jurassic Park adventure game....fin.

It's possible, esp with this material. Mr.Bean is not a idiot, he's from space.

I second this. Blackadder would be a great adventure game.

    Yeah, this.
I would love a graphic adventure with him, I love him and he really can fit in this genre.
Problem is, I don't know if the guys at Telltale can properly use his humor, especially considering it's heavily based on facial features and gestures.

Debatable, the animated series as a whole was really exaggerate compared with the original episodes, they don't feel like being even in the same reality.
And in this aspect, an eventual game should not be like the animated series, except graphically.

I'd love to see either Bean or Blackadder. :)

The only game to come out didn't do it any justice. Never played it but it's a UK game, which tend to have nothing to do with source material more often than not...

TTG could do a better job but I don't know whether or not they'd see any real marketability in it. A poll would have been better for this thread.

If any British franchise is gonna be turned into an adventure game, it has to be Spaced.
  • edited November 2010
Damn you for putting that idea in my head. Now I'm going to be depressed for the next year because a Spaced adventure game doesn't exist. :P

Never liked the animated Mr Bean because they could never recreate Attkinson's facial gestures.
