Let's return to Zork! (Again...)

I'm not sure if you heard, but apparently a full version of the original Zork was included in Call of Duty: Black Ops. As an adventure gaming fan, it was nice to see Activision still hasn't forgotten one of the all-time classics.

Then it got me thinking. With what Telltale's done for Sam and Max, Monkey Island, and really the adventure genre as a whole, what would the odds be of working something out with Activision to make a new Zork game? It'd be wonderful to step into the Great Underground Empire one last time. :)

It's not an adventure game (tough to even call it a "game"), but it is an active, current use of the license. Not sure if it makes a "real" Zork game in the future more likely or less likely, since it probably isn't an exclusive license

Cool! From the article, I couldn't tell if it was Zork I, or the "real" original Zork. (For those not in the know, the original Zork was written for one of the larger computers at the time, and it had to be broken into three parts to run on what were the personal computers in those days. Modern personal computers could probably run 100 copies of the original Zork at the same time without breaking a sweat.) From the video, it appears to be Zork I. Maybe they'll put Zork II in another game. I think that one is the most fun of the three.

Oh, and if we did convince Activision to let Telltale make a new Zork game, don't call it the "last" time. :)

I was aware of Legends of Zork. I don't really count it, though, for obvious reasons.

Also, Zork, like all the old Infocom games, are now owned by Activision.

Yeah I just brought it up because I think the fact that Activision is actively licensing the "Zork universe" to another game developer currently is somewhat relevant to the discussion, although again I'm not sure which way it sways the odds of a new main-series game
