Telltale Voice Actors

edited January 2011 in General Chat
I didn't see any threads dedicated to Telltale's voice actors in general, and I thought we should have one. So let's talk about voice actors. Who are your favorite voice actors from Telltale games? Are there any that you'd like to see them work with? Stuff like that.

Well, Roger Jackson for one simply cannot be overlooked. He's the voice of Hemlock McGee and Winslow from Monkey Island (Winslow also from Poker Night, of course), the Devil, Abe Lincoln, the Storm Moai, General Skun-ka'pe, Charlie Ho-Tep and Grandpa Stinky from Sam & Max, among others. I would not have thought that he would have voiced all of those characters, but... well, he has :).

Damn, I knew about the rest, but not about Charlie Ho-Tep or Grandpa Stinky. That makes the man all the more impressive. Don't forget, he was also the Sea Monkeys in Sam & Max and Galeb in Monkey Island.

Edit: Holy crap, he was the mariachis too?!

Wow, he's the voice behind "Did someone say 'birthday'?".

Roger "Mojo Jojo" Jackson is indeed an impressive voice actor.

On a non-Telltale note, he did the voice of every character in American McGee's Grimm. All of them. Even the female ones.

    Wow, that's pretty damn impressive.

...This has turned into the Roger L. Jackson Appreciation Thread, hasn't it?

Aye. I'm so glad that she was given the role of Morgan LeFlay. If the character of Morgan had been deprived of a good voice actor, then she very easily could have become a very annoying and whiny-sounding character very quickly. Nikki was able to give Morgan a young-sounding voice, but was able to make the actual character of Morgan sound mature and grown-up (if that makes sense). Morgan sounded young, but not like an annoying schoolgirl/teenager cliche that we see in so many films and games these days.

Dominic Armato, the true voice of Guybrush Threepwood. I know he has his own page, but he can be in here to. :)

A.J. Locascio, his Michael J Fox impression is just awesome, I know he will be great in BTTF.

Adam Harrington, he did great as the replacement for LeChuck and I do like Moose. :)

I love Alexandra Boyd as Elaine.
  • edited December 2010
David Boyd did excellent as Hugh Bliss and Mr. Featherly, especially when Hugh's voice went all evil in Bright Side of the Moon.
I also loved Brian Sommer as Brady Culture. That's one massively underrated voice performance. He also did a great job as Frankie the Rat and Jurgen's Monster.

Seconded. I personally don't think they could have picked a better person to fill the shoes of Earl Boen. I mean, no, Adam didn't sound all that much like Boen, but he still sounded like a suitable LeChuck. And, if I may be so bold, I felt that he delivered the dialogue lines from Episode I better than Boen did.

I thought the same thing, but in Boen's defence he had to put voice to a character that was already animated, while Adam just had to act and the character was animated after him.
It is harder to voice something that is already done. :)

But Adam is no doubt the perfect LeChuck when Boen can't do it any more. :)

Oh yeah! Adam "Harrr-harrr-harrr!" Harrington, huh?

Anyway, I like Kevin Blackton as the deep-sounding human gentleman LeChuck, from ToMI Chapter 2 up to Chapter 4... before Earl Boen showed up for the very last part of Chapter 4. :D

Ah, yes, that is a very good point. Boen wouldn't have been able to work the same way that he usually does; there would certainly be some restriction there when it came to voicing those lines.

    Damn right! :)

Haha, yeah. Even he's admitted that that laugh wasn't... all that great. The rest of his performance was top-notch though, in my opinion. Yes, even the screeches worked well, I thought.

Andrew Chaikin/Kid Beyond deserves recognition in my opinion.

    -Foney Bone in Bone
    -Max in Culture Shock
-Various voices in ToMI (including Bugeye and Coronado DeCava, his two most iconic roles in the season)
    -Various voices in CSI
-Narrator, Papierwaite and Gordon The Brain in The Devil's Playhouse
-Tycho in Poker Night at the Inventory
-And I'm sure he'll bring a great performance to the table with Biff in BTTF

BTTF will have the best voice cast in a Telltale Game yet. (AJ, Lloyd, Arnold-Taylor, Chaikin)
I also somehow get the feeling that Nicki Rapp will be voicing that mystery character in Episode 4's concept image.

Y'know what would be awesome? If Telltale gave Matt a small role in one of their other games, sorta like how they gave Majus a role in They Stole Max's Brain.

I just knew I had forgotten someone, he did an amazing job as Coronado DaCava and Bugeye.
I didn't even know it was the same guy since, well now. :p

I don't think there has been a single voice actor in the TTG that I don't like. They're all suited to the characters that they are portraying.

I've gotta say A.J. LoCascio's work on BTTF has impressed me. I haven't gotten too far into the game (still trying to get the hooch to Judge Browns house for the rocket drill) but what I've heard so far sounds great! He's a newcomer to the business and the spot on M.J. Fox voice matching would only get him so far without the chops to believably deliver lots and LOTS of copy with no other actors to play off of.

And of course Roger is a pimp! Back in the old cattle call audition days when I was still relatively green, I would try to nonchalantly sidle up to him to hear him rehearsing while waiting to audition. I'ts an honor to be able to call him a peer. "Do you like scary movies Sidney?"

Andrew's awesome too, and so freakin' multi-talented. Google "Kid Beyond" to see his unbelievable beat box work.

Doug Boyd and JS Gilbert have also been big influences on me. Doug and I do tons of scenes together because our voices juxtapose nicely. Here we are in Iron Man 2 and Puzzle Agent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VWgePjNrco

    Doug is silky smooth.

Christopher Lloyd was awesome too. I don't think he's done much VO, but he jumped right back into the role and knocked it out, again without other actors to play off. The guys at TT said he was a pleasure to work with, a consummate pro.

Hey dude, thanks again for getting my back, but as I've said before Earl is The One True Le Chuck, I was just luckey to stand in for a little while. Don't know if I ever said so, but the guys at TT never played me any of Earls Le Chuck before we started recording. I think they had no idea Earl might come out of retirement at that point and didn't want an impression. They had me do it the way I originally auditioned (when I had never even heard of MI). Those "Har Harrrrs"s will follow me to my grave. :o

How are things Dawn Undah? Have you played BTTF yet? What're your thoughts? Can you tell which character I voiced? ;)

Think of it this way, all publicity is good publicity, you will forever be remembered for something no one has ever done. :p

And I (for one) don't think they are all that bad. You managed to combine a sound that trademarks pirates and a laugh into one.
It definitely got me into the Evil Zombie Pirate vibe. :)

Hey Adam, good to see you back on the forums! I think you might have mentioned this, yeah (I'm not sure, though). So what exactly did Telltale tell you prior to/during the recording process? Did they simply give you a description of the character and let you go from there? Or was there more to it than that?
Those "Har Harrrrs"s will follow me to my grave. :o

Hehe, most probably, unfortunately :). The "Harr Harr Harr"s probably wouldn't have been so memorable and infamous if they were simply featured at a different moment in the episode. But since they were at the very beginning, they were the first piece of original, in-game Monkey Island dialogue that fans had heard in almost 10 years. It was always going to stick in people's memory ;).
How are things Dawn Undah? Have you played BTTF yet? What're your thoughts? Can you tell which character I voiced? ;)

Things in Australia, weather-wise, are wet. In summer, believe it or not! Still, not as wet as the the poor folks over in Queensland, though :(.

And yes, I have indeed played the first episode of 'BttF'. I finished the second half earlier today, in fact. To be completely honest, I couldn't actually tell which character you voiced, but I saw in the credits that you voiced Matches. Too bad the character wasn't featured all that heavily in this episode. Hopefully he'll get a few more lines in Episode 2, and judging by the 'next episode' scenes during the credits, it looks like he will :).

As for the episodes itself, I really liked it! It felt very in-tune with the classic feel of the original film trilogy. I'm looking forward to playing more.

So, I'm guessing recording for episode 2 is all wrapped up? Also, will you be recording lines for any other characters throughout the series?
