Least favorite Valve game?

edited December 2010 in General Chat
Some of you may have remembered my "Least favorite Telltale game" thread from a while back, this is basically the same, Valve has a history of putting out awesome games, but were there any that you found, well, lacking? I'm certainly not calling any of Valve's games bad, I love Valve, I'd just like to hear other's opinions. As for me, I found Alien Swarm a bit... lacking.

Okay, L4D2 I can understand, but the original? Please 'splain.

Game was boring and easy? I mean if you check my STEAM Achievements I got all Expert Realism in L4D2. It was fun for the first hour I played then the novelty of it wore off. It's a pretty boring game that's easy to outrick the AI. Just charge forward with an Auto shotty and one real friend. Use only dual pistols and you win. All anyone does in online. I only play L4D(2) with friends and all we do is basically troll each other while on the same team in VS mode.
I had way more fun with Riccochet and I didn't get that untill it was 99% dead.

Actually thinking about it. About a tie between Portal, L4D, and L4D2.

Portal- Too easy not funny. I play puzzle games to be challenged, I was not challenged.

    Ricochet.

Well dude, if you weren't challenged by Portal, I guarantee Portal 2 won't let you down. Now normally I'd be shocked to hear someone say that Portal wasn't funny, but then again, I can understand how someone could get tired of hearing "HURR THE CAKE IS A LIE LOLOLOL" all over the internet.

Especially since it's not, There really was cake, It just wasn't going to be given to you.

Anyway, my answer is Half Life.

    What? I've played 4 Valve games total, Portal, Half-life 1 + 2, and TF2.

Of all of them Half Life was the weakest, I couldn't play it without getting motion sickness and the voices felt all weird and not actually human.

I'm jealous. Everyone gets motion sickness from first-person shooters except me. :(

    Ricochet.

No idea as i don't know all of their games but i probably played their best one, HL2. I'm looking forward more to HL3 than HL2E3, the episodes weren't as good as the original.

    Portal.

Gotta say HL1. I'm not saying it's not a great game, just that the Xen levels deduct a large chunk of awesomeness from the overall package.

    Ricochet, if it even counts

I'm waiting for Portal 2. If the puzzles are once again way too easy the I'll be done with Portal series.

    Team Fortress 2

Agreed. I love the Team Fortress 2 characters and writing, but the actual game never engaged me that much. Valve is much better with single player experiences, in my opinion.

playing the XEN-levels is one of my happier memories of the past. I really don't get why most people mention them as a negative experience.

Counter-Strike. I could never get into it, for whatever reason.

I've only played Half-Life and Team Fortress 2 and I like them both.

if it wasn't for Ricochet this would definitely be my pick for the same reason.

Counter Strike. I like Valve for the atmospheres of their games, and Counter Strike feels like a standard run-of-the-mill game to me.

I can't stand first person platforming (save for Mirror's Edge), so that entire sequence was a nightmare for me.

While it's not dropped to my least favorite, yet, TF2 just keeps hitting new lows. (Want Christmas themed items? Gamble for them! Bah-humbug, TF2 Christmas doesn't give gifts!)

I haven't played a Valve game I haven't liked yet, although that does limit me to TF2, Portal, L4Ds and Alien Swarm. I DO, however, kind of feel like they could have handled L4D/L4D2 a little better. I can kind of understand why people who paid full price for the original weren't entirely happy when the sequel was announced, and the Sacrifice comic was neat, but why not give us a campaign instead of a comic explaining how the original survivors escaped to the south? Also, there's no way to learn how to play the Infected without jumping into a Versus/Scavenge game and learning as you go, and trying to do that with random people in public games is just a crapshoot.

Yeah I was hoping valve would just open the crates but oh well. They did allow donations to map contributors though. Of course most people would rather get the crate keys, so valve added an unusual hat for the donations.
They also did add good weps that you DONT have to pay for dispite what others say.
I have 2 crate weapons, the demo melee(so fun) and the medic melee and I didnt pay for any of those.(ok I did buy 2 crate keys for the candy cane but you know what I dont care)

'Hide the valve' is my least favourite game.
Or 'turn it close so far the other guy can't get it open'
    Always hurts my hand. =(

I can understand. It's much harder for me to play HL2 simply because I don't find it anywhere near as fun as HL1 was. Even with Synergy HL2 still kinda bores me.

So far we've heard people say that Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike, and Team Fortress 2 are their least favorite Valve games. That leaves us with, what? Deathmatch Classic and Day of Defeat.

Episode 1 silly. And Left 4 Dead 1. And Alien Swarm.

COunter-Strike's essentially just a big budget mod, whereas Valve's other titles are fully-fledged games (bar Alien Swarm, but it was free)
