I can't launch my PC version of Episode 1

When I installed Episode 1, when I got to the DirectX section of the process the installation failed due to "a cabinet needing to be installed that cannot be trusted." It told me to check my certifications and try again. Despite this, I got an Install Success message. When I tried to start the game, however, my launcher window is just a black window with a frame. There's no content and no amount of soaking seems to be causing any information to fill into the window. What is going on? :mad:

seems that your DIRECT-X is somehow corrupted? did you use the one IN the game installer? if it fails, get it direct from a place like fileHippo. here's a link to the last version of 9.0 (9c) "DIRECT". ;-)
