Sam and Max 305 vacuum issue

Whilst playing Sam and Max episode 305 when I'm converted in to the vacuum cleaner by the audiovisual cable I eventually just get stuck. The controls seem to jam and I can't even get to the menu screen. Sam just sits in the middle of the floor whirring his motor and I have to close the game using alt+f4. The game doesn't even seem to 'freeze' as such as the max spore is still floating around.

This happens whether or not I get the cockroach.

I'm using Windows 7 ultimate 64, a 5750HD 1GB, an Athlon 445 x3 processor and 4GB of DDR3.

    Very same thing, it always happens when I convert the second time, I gotta alt+F4 out of the game every single time. rather annoying tbh.

    Well, I've found as long as I was quick and knew the puzzle solution in advance I could get through it and turn back before it happened but this is still an issue it seems.
