BTTF surround sound?

Does this game series support surround sound or stereo only?
Normally my sound card will upmix stereo sources into surround sound, but it's not happening for this game.
My specs:
Creative X-Fi Fatality and Logitech Z-5500D 5.1 with 6 channel direct and optical.
