Donkey Kong is a brilliant DKC remake, but the controls ruin it. You have to shake the controller to do basic things like rolls and pounds, which really ruins an otherwise excellent DKC experience. I'd say skip it unless you're planning on doing a homebrew hack to allow Classic Controller usage.

Thanks for the info Dashing... I will probably hold off on DK until I can buy it cheap used or something.

I was really excited for Epic Mickey, but it's kind of boring. Heavy Rain is fantastic and it's even better if you have Playstation Move.

Well, I haven't played either of the games, but I've seen much less hate for DKC than any of the other two games so take that however you wish *shrugs*

The controls didn't bother me personally, but then again I only played the first level at a Best Buy.

Honestly, I think Epic Mickey gets a lot of undue hate, but that might be the raging Disney historian in me excusing faults. I could never be objective about a game that treats Oswald with a sense of reverence and importance.

    The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind!

I have owned that for forever.

    Magicka!
    The Last Express!
    Super Meat Boy!
    Fallout!

...actually, if you do get that one, you need this mod pack. Installed like so:

    1) Install Fallout 1 from GOG.com
    2) Find and install "Fallout_1_TeamX_Patch_ENG_1.2w" (either via nma or just google)
    3) Install "f1child_patch" (again, nma)
    4) Install "fallup13" - this is the TeamX patch 1.3.4 (nma)
    5) Install "f1npcmod" from TeamX (again, nma)
    6) Install "sfall1" (from http://timeslip.chorrol.com/sfall.html)
    7) Install "Fallout1_High_Resolution_Patch_v1.3" (nma)
    8) Open f1_res and set AUTO_SCRN_SIZE = 0, then your desired resolution (I use 800*600, anything above is just too darn small for my taste), then if you want, change the way ingame movies work, either fullscreen or not....up to you.Same with movie subtitles.

Run the game and enjoy it in all of its patched glory, WITH KILLABLE KIDS (not that I ever kill them, but the option is here), with better NPC interaction (armors, levelling..), with tweaks like mousewheel in the inventory etc, in higher resolution...

I could shoot off more irrelevant suggestions! =O

I played Heavy Rain back when it came out last year, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although the gameplay may seem a bit boring, it mainly consisting of QTE's it's definitely a unique experience which I recommend. The story is enough to keep you interesting all the way through and it has quite a bit of replay value too with all of the different choices you can make throughout the game.

I personally reccomend Monday Night Combat, for a fun-light hearted shooter.

On the flipside, I have it and I can't get into a single match

You mean unique except for the fact that this was the premise of ALL of Quantic Dreams' previous games? And Heavy Rain was just a refinement of a concept that they themselves had already done a couple times before?

Yes, Fahrenheit. One game. Which in comparison to every other popular game last year which has been done atleast 3 or 4 times before except with slightly different paint is pretty damn unique, wouldn't you say?

Edit: Quantic Dream has made another game prior to Fahrenheit, but it wasn't very similar to either Fahrenheit or Heavy Rain.

Omikron had a lot of story and base ideas moved over to Fahrenheit. Though Fahrenheit is a far more DIRECT comparison, Omikron has its roots in Heavy Rain as well.

And no, "An exact copy of something else that people haven't been copying a lot" is not the definition of unique.

I think I have decided on getting a physical copy of RDR Undead Nightmare.

Comparing it to every other game released last year, it is unique. Which is what I meant. Hell even taking into account their earlier games, the style is still fairly unique in the sense that no one else makes games like that.

More over, Heavy Rain being an exact copy is absolute bullshit. It used ideas from previous games and evolved them. Which is what most companys do.

I'm not even quite sure why you're arguing this, I certainly didn't say that to start an arguement. I honestly felt it was a refreshing experience last year, and well, I'm sorry you don't feel the same way.

*sigh* I'm still mourning the cancellation of the PC port for Heavy Rain. Indigo Prophecy is one of the few games I love so much that I bought it twice (PC/Xbox), so I was chomping at the bit for this one.

It's been tough avoiding spoilers all this time, but I've somehow managed. I'm tempted to just watch a Let's Play of it and enjoy it like a movie, as I'm desperate to find out what's wrong with the rain's gravitational pull.

...bad idea. It starts off fun, but then it just repeats the same thing over and over and over.

Do mission. Go to town. Free it of zombies. Repeat.

I'm playing through RDR:UN and I'm quite enjoying it, it's adds to the original gameplay of RDR and gives it a bit more interest :-)

DKCR is still an excellent game despise aforementioned control problems. A must-play for fans of the originals. And it doesn't shy away from challenge if you're a fan of the difficulty of games from the older generations.

My main issue with the shake to roll/pound/blow was that it just wasn't responsive enough. I had to shake harder than I'd like to get the desired result. I get that you don't want to accidentally roll when you when you're standing next to a bottomless pit or the like but it just didn't get the balance right. That was my only major gripe with the game however, otherwise it's good old school platforming fun the likes of which hasn't been seen since the SNES :D
