Hold on a minute. A few moments when Espers (Extra Sensory Perception) were great.

Alfred Bester's SF story The Demolished Man, the radioplay is great as well.

In the Star Trek episode Memory Alpha with Gary Mitchell and the beautiful Dr. Elisabeth Dehner.

I prefer the later Dune movie, based on undefinable personal taste, subjective in nature.

David Lynch's Dune?? Pure unadulterated crap.

Apart from certain visuals, the movie is a (censored) (censored) (censored) bad interpretation of the books.

The 2000 Dune miniseries is miles apart but I still prefer the books.

In fact, I reshuffled my to-read list and put at the top Dune.

The books are different than the film but it's still very well done, similar to Watchmen, just different/condensed.

I thought Frank Herbert's Dune was the 2000 version. Which is the one I would watch again.

This thread isn't about Final Fantasy 6? Oh... okay. Have fun.

It can be, I had thought it was too when I first saw it.

Odin is my personal favourite, though Carbunkle is very useful too.:D

Although the 2000 version generally follows the story of the novel (That is Dune, the first book), it has some creative discrepancies and ignores quite a few things.

It's a good starting point, but if you can, read the books.

Do note that the first book is "Dune". There are prequels, but those weren't written by Frank Herbert (Although the prequels give more context to the events happening on "Dune")

Edit: Avoid David Lynch's version. Except for some visuals, completely forgettable (yes, even the music) even the Dune RTS game feels more close to the novel.

You should read about the problems they were encountering in realising this film, the Directors which gave up on it and the problems Lynch was facing. The original version is really hard to understand if you haven't read the books, maybe impossible. The later version is more round and is a well done movie. A lot of talented people were working on it. And you can see/feel this quality in the film. A lot of people made the mistake comparing it with a Star Wars movie. That's not what the books and the film is all about.

Irrelevant to me. I spent a large part of my life playing Final Fantasy RPGS. I attract towards them naturally and they are possibly even a segment of how I function on varying levels, socially.

It's one of the few things I've ever talked about with other people in my life, about my life.
