If you're looking for more "good" than "scary," my favorite is Let the Right One In.

Dude what the eff, are you my effing alter ego? Cube has stuck with me in the 3 years since I've seen it more than the vast majority of movies stick with me.

Lynch in general is terrifying to me.

As for Rabbits specifically...when I first saw that in the summer of 2006, as an adult, I had to sleep with the light on sporadically for weeks. I still do on occasion. FYI, in the movie "Lynch" (an abstract documentary that plays like a Lynch film itself - so don't expect "answers"), he tells a story from his youth that seems to be the origin story of Rabbits, but it is not stated as such explicitly. "Lynch" is streaming free on Netflix last I checked (I thought it was really awesome).

For those of you who don't know it - Rabbits was a web series that David Lynch did 8 years ago (you can usually find it on YouTube or Google Video). It's a one-room sitcom starring 3 people in brown rabbit suits. Nothing they say seems to make sense. The audience claps when characters enter. The audience laughs at inappropriate times. Disturbing wind, rain, and foghorns are heard in the background. It might sound silly, but watch it by yourself with the lights out and see what you think. Don't try to interpret it.

I kinda regret mentioning Rabbits as a scary movie, not because it's not ... because I think if you approach it without knowing it's a horror film it has it real effect on you. If you do know it's a horror film, it's not going to scare you to the full potential it has.

I didn't know Cube was a horror film either when I watched for the first time. I just thought it discusses philosophical issues itself and after I saw it, it's like my brain was frozen ... I still can't bring myself to watch Cube again.
Same goes with the Rabbits. I was lucky I didn't watch it with lights off, I might have had a heart attack!
The last time that the scary "leader" of the rabbits appeared I was so scared I couldn't watch the film any-more, I just minimised the player until I heard he is gone
Anyone who says Paranormal Activity is scary should watch The Rabbits.

I didn't know there was an autobiographic film about him ... and one done in his own style! Thanks, I'll watch it in the future.

Well, in case you didn't notice, Let the Right One In is a foreign film that is remade in the U.S. as Let Me In. Weird.

I just watched "Rabbits" because I read about it in here, and I have to say: I'm stunned. This series is so damn sick...
Are there different stories going on at the same (?) time? Maybe it would be the best to write down all the dialogues to figure that out...

^ Someone in the related iMDB board did that. You can check that out.

I just watched Rabbits, also, and it really reminds me of an absurdist play, but filmed like a sitcom. It amused and creeped me out at the same time.

Yep, it's a Swedish film. I heard the American remake was good, but I only watched a little bit... it felt too much like watching an altered version of the original.

Were you crepped out by the atmosphere and it's absurdity or by
the scary Rabbit appearing after everywhere is red by a flash light?

I know you weren't asking me, but I am more creeped out by the atmosphere of Rabbits and the thing as a whole, not really just the
    giant head
    .

In fact, there is a point in Twin Peaks where they finally show you a horror explicitly (
    BOB's murder of Maddy
), but that scene actually came as a bit of relief to me. The build-up was what was killing me for so many episodes...slow camera pans around a house where anything could come out at any time, etc. It was a relief to see it finally played out.

I don't think much about interpreting Rabbits anymore. However it is, Lynch is able to tap something in my brain where he can mainline fear without necessarily any logic to it. That's pretty awesome.

Mostly the atmosphere, those silent moments when nothing was happening. The absurdity didn't really bother me.
And I thought the demon thing was actually pretty cool. Dramatic theatrical lighting makes me happy for some reason.

^ Huh ... I guess tastes are different ... for some other maybe both the atmosphere and
    the daemon Rabbit
    be the horror/creepiness factor ...
Well, I guess that shows David Lynch thought of more than 1 types of persons feeling and tastes to make these shorts and that I guess is good directing ... although there might be people that the movie has no effect on them at all ...

There are a lot of people who don't get Rabbits in any way and just think it's "weird", not creepy or scary.

I found the original 'The Omen' pretty creepy, and I was really skeptical at first 'cos the re-make was terrible, but you could try it :)

If you've got a lot of time on your hands and prefer slow-paced psychological horrors than Rosemary's Baby is pretty good, even though it's quite old it's still really creepy.

If it's just plain gory films you want, then try the Saw series, The Hills Have Eyes, Hostel, stuff like that (I found the Hills Have Eyes to be the scariest, especially the first one).

Most mainstream horrors are a bit rubbish, but I liked Paranormal Activity - although if you haven't watched it I'd recommend Paranormal Entity over it, they're both pretty similar, but I prefer the latter. :)

Also Quarantine was pretty good, just an English version of Rec so I suppose you could watch either depending on whether you can be bothered with subtitles or not :)

The one film you should never, ever waste your money on is 'Bloody Mary,' might actually be the most movie I've ever seen. Although good as a comedy :D

Nosferatu, Ring, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Psycho, Jaws, The Elephant Man, Hostel, The Silence of the Lambs, Funny Games (the original).

The Descent! Scariest film I've seen in my adult life! If you don't know anything about it that's good, it's far scarier if you don't know what it's about. Just rent it and watch ;)

From what I've heard, one of the biggest horror movies ever, especially amongst young adult males, is one so horrid even mentioning its name will bring shivers to everyone.

    Twilight.

Audition. Builds up the suspense beautifully.

I've actually seen the movie a few nights ago at a roommate's girlfriend's house. The first few minutes (more like the first half) were silly in my opinion (but that might be due to me and a friend of mine "dubbing" some of the scenes) but the last half of the movie (erm... third act? I don't know) had great suspense.

A good horror movie though? Guess it really all depends on what one is into. I'm more of a psychological type, so I'm going for Black Swan. But that just might be because I have some form of fear with ballerinas, mostly feet (mainly because of their feet doing inhuman things). But in-your-face rip-and-tear horror, um... I'm not too keen on that kind of horror so I don't know all that much.

I always loved Gothika, think I mentioned it. The majority of it is really good. The best suspense action movie horrors, one of the best, if you consider it horror, is Aliens. That movie ROCKS! But, on the other hand I don't really consider that horror.

I like Mirrors too. I also like the movie, Stir of Echoes.Pet Cementary, has to be one of the most distubring movies I've ever seen.

I found Triangle an interesting, btw also time travel, movie. It wasn't the most scariest one but what i found exciting was the killerloop. It would be interesting to watch this film for another few hours.

Just come back from watching this and I TOTALLY recommend it - although if gore isn't your thing there might be one or two moments that make you cringe.

Oh believe me, I've seen it. I was "told" that it was a ballerina movie with Natalie Portman. That was it. I wasn't expecting what I've seen. Do I regret it? Only at night, but I digged the movie a lot. :D
