One of the greatest games of all time. The sequel isn't bad either.

Again, one of the greatest games of all time. It does have one extremely frustrating puzzle that is incredibly hard to finish.

A Scooby Doo game with an art style similar to DOTT.

A sequel to Shadow of the Comet. It's not bad.

The first half of this game is one of the best adventure experiences I've ever had; it turns into a stealth action game later, but still retains a lot of adventure elements.

I second the recommendation for Snatcher. By the way Cube, there is a translation available for Policenauts, another game made by Hideo Kojima that is similar in gameplay to Snatcher, and is very enjoyable in my opinion.

I really hope the guy someday makes more adventure games. Maybe 3D Snatcher for Nintendo's new handheld, or perhaps an entirely new game.

I just want snatcher and policenauts done like monkey island special editions/rtype demnsions where you can change between the orginal and remade version at will .. in english on playstation 3 or xbox 360 since konami and kojima seem to not be into PC anymore.

I don't know why they have not on PSN it would be like Gold theyjust have to put the dude who made metal gear did this on it and it will sell on Psn.

Oh and the ps3 has move support now so you could do light gun support kinda... and it has that crazy gun attachment... looks nothing like the handgun but oh well better than nothing.. so ya I would like a ps3 version best for the move support. using the gun on sega cd was way more fun.

    this would be better though

I dont have a chip modded saturn or playstation to play the english policenuts but I can play japanese games on the saturn..

and a new willy beamish.. the 2nd game where he was a teenager was never made.

You know, a lot of these games are on Gametap. Normally I wouldn't recommend the service, because it's gone downhill a lot, but maybe getting a month to try out Willy Beamish, Syberia, A Vampyre Story, Captain Brawe, King's Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory and others wouldn't be a bad investment if you finish the games pretty quickly.

I definitely wouldn't use Gametap's "Download to Own" service (lots of bad customer service there) but their subscription service seems to still be functional (if not a solid value compared to sales on Steam, GOG, etc.)

Insert an extremely detailed and much appreciated description of the various differences between the floppy, PC-CD and Mega CD editions of Willy Beamish

That's great, thanks so much for doing that :) It's been a tough call deciding which edition to go for but I'm going to try for the PC-CD edition and then maybe the Mega-CD version next year, so I can spot all the differences for myself.

You mentioned emulation and I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that a lot of my old school gaming is done through emulation. Although, I do end up buying the games that impress me (for example I own a few Mega-CD titles but I still play them on my PC).

Also, thanks for pointing me in the direction of Space Adventure Cobra, I have no idea how I missed that particular gem for all these years *hangs head in shame*

I completed Snatcher last year and loved pretty much everything about it. I didn't mind the fact that it was clearly derivative of Blade Runner and The Terminator because those elements were obviously loving homages to two fantastic movies.

I'm currently somewhere around the half-way mark through the English translation of Policenauts (thank god for the fanboys) and although I'm certainly enjoying it, I honestly don't think that it's a patch on Snatcher. Although, as usual I'm in love with that typical Kojima touch (Meryl from Metal Gear is working in the police station basement and a person in the hospital mistakes you for Gillian Seed, the main character from Snatcher).

I kind of put the game on hold but thinking about it, I really should finish it before starting anymore quests.

[A list of very interesting looking adventure games, oh and Scooby Doo! (just kidding, it actually looks pretty sweet)]

The first two Call of Cthulhu should go down a treat, especially since I got a book of H.P. Lovecraft stories as a gift for Christmas.

I might give this one a miss because I generally dislike any game with stealth in it, unless it's got Metal Gear or Thief in the title that is! Seriously though, it's all down to the mechanics of the stealth gameplay. Does this game control as well as a streamlined Solid Snake or is it more of a clunky George Stobbart?

IF you play the Sega cd version of willy beamish on a emulator play with the First Sega CD model (with the automatic sliding tray) Bios

On my Sega CDX and the sega CD model 2 I have is where I ran into the game bugs. IT always worked fine on my First model Sega CD.

(the same goes for Jurassic park it don't work right on the CDX unless you ordered the special CDX version that sega was offering as a replacement if it didn't work I had to get my disc swapped.)

The CDX and model 2 did not exist when willy beamish came out.

and nobody played space adventure cobra they never made enough disc So you only found it in stores if you was lucky you could not buy it most the time even if you wanted too.

Oh ya and i forgot about blazing dragons I found it in my game storage this morning looking for something else.

Is that... a stoned dragon?! Wait! Cheech Marin?! Woah, Terry Jones! This game may have been made for me. Hold on... Sega Saturn!!!

    1238009-darth_vader_noooo1_1__super.jpg

I do own a Saturn but it crashes after 5-10 minutes of switching it on and as some of you may know, emulating the Saturn is akin to getting struck by lightning twice, winning the lottery and discovering that you are a direct descendant of Jesus Christ, all in one day!

There is a ps1 blazing dragons version too. it will play in a ps1 ps2 or ps3, it is not one of the games that has problems on the ps2 or ps3.

They are both pretty much the same it is hard to tell you have to play them side by side to spot changes in graphics if there is any and the content is the same.

I own the Saturn and seen the Ps1 version one time at somebody's house.

I have been thinking about getting the ps1 version since I store my saturn away be keep playstations all over the place because they have tons of games and I have not played it in years.

The game don't look much like the cover really But i think they do smoke somthing and they eat ruby's and diamonds as food. I don't remember seeing the stoned jester in the game much... Flicker is the main character.

I have no Idea how the game did not get at least a T for teen rating with all the hidden sex jokes and smoking going on.

YES, THIS GAME! Like Silent Hill I give this one a pass as far as choppy controls go because the atmosphere is that damn good. If you like Lovecraft or just horror in general, seriously pick this game up. It's well worth your time.

If you actually made it through Phantasmagoria 2 then you should really play the first one, it's better in a lot of ways. You should also try Starship Titanic written by Douglas Adams and Terry Jones. Lastly, one of my favorites is Journeyman Project 2.

Also, I know it's a little off subject, but you did mention some JRPGs, the best one I've played in a while was Persona 4.

Hey, I love Phantasmagoria 2. Yes, it's ultra cheesy but that's part of what makes it great. It's up there with the likes of Wing Commander III-V and Gabriel Knight II as a FMV game that's actually fun to play and that's a rarity. I'm sure that I'll play the original Phantasmagoria at some point.

I've owned a copy of Starship Titanic for quite some time now but it's a game that I find to be boarderline unplayable, even though I do have a lot of respect for the developers trying to do something different (talking to characters by typing on the keyboard is pure genius).

I'll keep an eye out for The Journeyman Project. I think that I tried to buy it some time ago after reading a glowing review but I ended up with The Longest Journey by mistake (although that's a pretty awesome mistake to make).

I might give Persona 4 a go sometime but I'm feeling a little burned out with RPGs at this time (I'm currently playing Mass Effect 2 and have recently played Fallout: New Vegas, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross).

I honestly can't remember. The game is worth playing just for EVERYTHING leading up to this point in the game however.

I played this when I was a wee one and forgot all about it. All the drugs and sex references must've went all over my head.

The TV show was boss as well!!

I'm sure that you're correct. I can be pig headed sometimes, I remember playing Final Fantasy VII for the first time during '97 and thinking it was the greatest game of all time but when I reached Fort Condor and realised that I had to endure a RTS segment (one of my least favourite genres), I very nearly gave up on the game all together in disgust...

    Like I said; pig headed.

If you can find the FM-TOWNS version of Zak McKrakcken, it's the best version out there, with much better graphics and sound, and it runs fine on ScummVM. I'd recommend having a walkthrough handy, though, since it's a lot like Maniac Mansion in the sense that the game doesn't really tell you what to do (and there are some dead ends too).

I didn't really get if you liked Space Quest or not, but I recommend playing I-V. My favorite's III.

I've got both the PC and FM-TOWNS versions of Zak McKracken loaded into ScummVM, I just need to get around to actually playing.

As for Space Quest, I purchased the complete collection on CD-Rom a couple of years back (along with the King's Quest and Police Quest collections). I've played one or two from each collection but I'm sure to play them all at some stage. Infact, I'm going to force myself to endure the King's Quest games soon, in preparation of the upcoming TellTale game.

I don't think anyone mentioned this but I had... actually, I sitll have it. But anyway, I have a game called "Titanic: Adventure out of Time". It's cool. You play some type of secreat agent on the titanic trying to find a german spy or something like that. It's been so long since I played it and I have to see if my computer can still run it but I remember it being a lot of fun.

I'm assuming you've played "The 7th Guest" as well? But that was more puzzle than adventure.
