Activation on multiple PCs

Okay, I'd like to purchase and download the Sam'n'Max set and Ankh for my two children. However first I want to clarify how each game might be installed on multiple PCs as each of my kids has their own PC in their room).

Is this possible at all, or do I need to buy them each a copy? Can I "deactivate" and uninstall either game from one PC when the first child is finished playing it and then reactivate it on the other? I'm not wanting to pirate or run multiple copies if that's not allowed, just trying to avoid the "get out of my room" arguments if a game is only installable on one PC.

Regards
Greg

    Hey Greg,

Though you'll need to go through the steps listed in the "I've Already Purchased This" link in the game's launcher screen on the computers, you're more than welcome to put the game on more than one PC! You might have to jump through a couple (hopefully painless) hoops which are somewhat our of our control, but we're all for letting people put their copies of our games in a couple places around the house, etc. :)

That's great, thanks. Off to buy the games!

Actually, due to a bug feature that occurs when you have more than one item in your shopping cart, the "I've already purchased this" link doesn't work in most cases. (The best time to use that is if you bought directly from a demo of our games, not from the online store.)

To download the games onto multiple computers, just look up your order here. This will take you to download buttons for preactivated versions of the games. If you can't download from that page for some reason, or if you do but the game doesn't activate automatically, just click Activation Support in the launcher and follow the instructions to get an activation key from us.

Oops, I completely forgot about that. Sorry. Ignore me, Greg, and listen to Emily. Life is easy with the Find My Order page.

Thanks to both of you. My daughter is now playing Ankh, my son Sam'n'Max. Jack's way too young to have played Sam'n'Max originally, so it's fun to hear from him about "this crazy rabbit" etc. And of course, I'm looking forward to playing these new instalments myself!

    Cheers

I have a related question - can you activate the games an unlimited number of times or will the games "expire" eventually so you'll have to repurchase it?

You'll never have to repurchase it, but you might have to contact us to have your activations increased.

I have a related case too. I re-installed my sam & max episodes after some hardware upgrading and re-installing of windows. Episode 2-4 was already activated when I started them, and had no problems what so ever. But Episode 1 told me that this game had been installed on as many computers as possible. Then I pushed the "I've already purchased this" and inserted my order number and password, and viola, it was activated again. Does this mean the activation count has been extended, or may I meet this message again if I for example re-install the episode?

Did you email support in between? It's unlikely that someone would have just gone in and fiddled with your activations, but if you emailed support about it, I might have increased them for you.

Could you PM me with the order number, please?

Also, two things you should keep in mind - activating with the order number and password doesn't usually work for Season 1 customers (so don't bother trying it with any of the other episodes ;)), and if your recent upgrade included installation of Vista, Culture Shock is not going to stay activated for you (which could be why the other episodes activated automatically and episode 1 didn't). If you keep being prompted to activate and keep entering your order number and password, then yes, you will run out of activations eventually.
