Sierra Franchises?

edited March 2011 in General Chat
Hi, I just had to share my opinion on this:

First of all, I checked back here at the Telltale site only to notice at least 2 new series I will probably buy: Hector the Inspector and Kings Quest. (Sorry I'm kinda not psyched for Jurassic Park, but I did buy the season of BTTF)

Anyways firstly about the Sierra Franchises: I will probably buy King's Quest, but honestly personally I think KQ was about the worst of their franchises. :) I don't mean to say it was bad or anything particularly, just not my favorite. As I remember it it was frustrating as well as not being not really all that entertaining. I realize KQ is a very popular series with a lot of followers and this is really just my opinion so I apologize if I have offended anyone. That said I think Telltale can add a lot to this old series and I have the feeling that the Telltale Games will probably be the very best KQ games ever.

However, that all said - if you guys are getting access to Sierra's properties...please get your hands on Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry!! After seeing your treatments of Monkey Island and Sam n Max, I trust you guys! :D These I think were definitely Sierra's best franchises. :)

Thanks,
Kolgax

I'm largely in agreement. However, I do believe you'll find that Gabriel Knight was the greatest Sierra Adventure game series. ;)

Having TTG do Gabriel Knight would not make me sad at all either. :)

Providing Jane Jensen is involved of course.

I suspect they already have. Just wait until next year ;)

You're all wrong, the best Sierra series was Space Quest! :)

I think we have a good chance of seeing space quest but I doubt Telltale will touch LSL. I hope I'm wrong.

What with TellTale moving into more adult territory with The Walking Dead, you may well be wrong ;)

Hell no, we all know Mixed Up Fairy Tales was totally Sierra's best game. We need a revival!

A thing that I would absolutely love to see is a game in the style of the Conquests series. And the best part of it - They won't even need a license! (Although I don't know much about Christy Marx, I am pretty sure that she was responsible for the greatness of Longbow. So I hope she may help in this case.)

You people all keep misspelling Quest for Glory when you try to type which series was the best.

Police Quest & Leisure Suit Larry were definitely my favorite Sierra franchises.

If Telltale Games continues expanding at its current rate, it will produce 42% of all world video games by 2013
    So anything can happen.
    Though I'm concerned with quality.

    ----
    My choice of order:
    Gabriel Knight
    Space Quest
    Larry (Laffer)

I'd love for a Gabriel Knight sequel, but I don't know if Telltale is the company to do it.
I'd like it to be a big game like the first three that takes you on a grand mysterie adventure and won't let you go until the very end. Not some watered down episodes for which you'll have to wait a month to go to a different area.

I have more hope for a Larry game made by Telltale, although the same goes for that franchise. Part of the fun of part 6 and 7 was the huge location in which you could practically free-roam.
It could work if they did it like Larry 5, although that was the worst one of the series.

Those are the Sierra franchises I'd most like to be revived though.

Very, very good point. I hope you're listening TellTale.

I don't know, I feel episodic could work for Gabriel Knight as the original three games all had chapters, be it different days or different time blocks within the days. It would also need a largish world available in all the episodes, which wouldn't be too hard to do if all the episodes used the same world with a few episode specific places added when needed and removed when not.

If you're serious about making Sierra games, please do not try and turn them into Lucasarts games where you couldn't die. That was part of the challenge in the Sierra games. I never cared for saving the game and ending up in an unwinnable scenario, but the dying part made the game interesting.
