Isn't Bueller all in the main character's head, or is that just a popular theory?

Theory. I hope it's true though; it's not in the movie or anything but if the producers actually claim that it is in fact right, it'd be a cheap trick of them to nullify everything they made and probably piss many fans off.

I forgot to mention War Games to the list of movies he was in that I liked.

    Oh I get it

Falanca doesn't hate Star Wars for any logical reason

He just doesn't know what a good movie is.

You went overboard there, really. You're rant basically takes on a life of its own. Not sure if you got your point across. Your post is so polarized it's hard to finish, let alone take seriously.

Not trying to offend. I just think your "critical writing" could use some work.

I did get my point across, but I also just blindly flamed characters and the creators of that movie. If it's hard to finish by people liking this movie because of that aspect, I can get that. But when I hate something, I hate something, I can't change that.

TL;DR, Movie runs to cheap gimmicks time to time -more like it's a collaboration of other comedy movies of the era-, doesn't have likable characters because all characters except protagonist was dumbed down and put there just to be manipulated by Ferris, most actors and actresses take their roles too seriously for a comedy movie, movie doesn't have a consistent feel and just always jumps around. The plot is unbelievable and YET expectable -and sometimes hints obvious stuff numerous times it spoils the scene, the characters are unlikable, in the end it raises no tension or... ANY feeling during the scenes where the movie wants me to react with some. That, my friend Dashing, means the movie is far from being the best movie ever made. You're making it personal.

I can get that it was one of everyone's childhood movie, you know, the movie you grew up with. "Oh, ferrari gone :o" "omg lol middle fingers" "roflllllll kicked right in the facee". You watched it over and over and over in your elementary school years, you don't care its bad aspects anymore and it's defined a "classic" to you. I can get that. I didn't grow up with this movie and I can see everything more clearly.

I also think the same about Star Wars. It's just basic childhood fantasy turned into a load of movies. Well, also, it's probably the same reason why my favorite movie is The Truman Show. I watched it when I was 12, knowing nothing about the movie before, NOT EVEN THE TITLE while watching it on TV.

I wouldn't say that not growing up with something gives you a clearer perspective. I think in order to fully appreciate a lot of things, you need to be able to assume some things about the time period. Some movies are "timeless" some are not. The movie in question here fits into a certain genre of movies (1980's John Hughes style) so it's not really timeless. This movie stood out as one of the kings of that genre. So, if you don't "get" the genre because you are to young, it just means you probably don't "get" the generation at all.

Again, it all comes down to taste but some of my favorite movies of all time were movies I did not like on first viewing. (To old looking, to corny etc.) No, I didn't lower my standards to enjoy them, I just stopped being a hater. If you just HATE something you never get to understand why it's liked. When I see someone that HATES Star Wars but thinks the Truman Show is the greatest of all time, I know my leg is being pulled.

My thoughts on Inspector Gadget movie: Garbage with advertisements The cartoon was ok but not my favorite as a kid. Favorite Matthew Broderick movie: Election.

I never hate a fictional... thing only because of its contents. I hate it when it's treated as more than what it actually is. Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Star Wars are two fictions that reached cult status for some reason I can't understand, and Star Wars did cockblock the improvement of the franchises "I" like for its own good; it's the reason of my "hatred". Rest is just unamusement. And well, to be fair, I watched those movies at least three times to see WHY exactly I didn't enjoy them. I list them out but for some reason, those aren't good enough. I know I AM being fair but I feel like it's not being acknowledged just because I express hatred as one individual, against something that's liked by many people. I'm not begging for acknowledgement but I refuse to be treated as someone I'm not. The claim of "You don't get it" just means the movie fails to empathize with me. Well, really, I was a highschool student myself, I like Ferraris and I like the music in that movie. Mixing them up doesn't make the best smoothie for me. If I force myself to chug down all, well, it's "forcing".

Also gotta add I had so many expectations from Ferris Bueller's Day Off before watching it.

I'm with Falanca partway on Star Wars. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. It has a lot of things that annoy me. Yes, the original trilogy. I haven't seen Ferris, so I can't give an opinion on that. Also, this has nothing to do with Inspector Gadget.

    .... just double checking.

So yeah. Inspector Gadget was only awesome in the first original cartoon.

I always chuckled thinking about Dr. Claw being this disembodied arm attached to a chair.
