What I'd like to see

I know I'm in a minority saying this, but I love KQVII. I'm a big fan of animation so this really can't be helped. I would love to see a modern game that uses traditional animation like this. The HD makeovers of the Dragon's Lair and Space Ace games were great. It would be interesting to see the two concepts combined as well. A traditional animation adventure game that has occasional Dragon's Lair-esque cutscenes would actually be pretty cool if done right. I wouldn't mind if someone just gave me a true HD KQVII. It's a shame that this style got overshadowed by the "digitized actors" approach.

On a side note, it would also be great to see a modern game done in the stop-motion style of Neverhood or Clay Fighter.

You're not alone! I have a big place in my heart for KQVII. I think it was the first PC game I'd seen with animation like that, and I was so happy when Torin's Passage came out not long after with a similar sort of style.

Have you seen The Dream Machine? It's got this beautiful handmade quality to it. You can play the first episode for free online, and there's a discussion thread here if you're interested.
