    Ah.

Well in that case I would recommend making the episodes of the comics to make it darker :p

I think TTG has made this episode the Darkest of all the episodes.

I do wonder if Clementine will get sick like with the Flu in an episode and it's up to Lee to take care of her.

Also if Lily stays till Episode 5 it might end up Lee Clem and Kennys family go on his boat or Lee Clem and Lily go to Woodbury

Don't know if any of the Telltale staff are still looking at this thread...may I ask why episode 2 contained so many glitches?? Did you guys even bother to test the game?

By the way, I'm not refering to the glitch that initially postponed all ps3 user's from playing episode 2 to begin with.

Actualy, i'm one of those who doesn't pay atention to release dates. Hoonestly, i'm be glad if u'll be polishing each episode to perfection. Ha.

P.S. Just remember, there's the end of the world we known at the 21st of december.

Here's a Question i'd like to ask and a question I will ask.

I'd like to ask "Does Doug and/or Carley have a Dark Secret that we might find out later"

What I will ask "Considering Doug is based on a real person can he have a Dark Secret without being considered Slander?"

My question - are we ( PC Steam users) getting any patch any time soon? Coz I'm having issue with EP1 decisions being replaced by diagonally other in EP2, and I don't see much sense playing game with story telling (key feature) bugged.

Anyone else notice the fight or flight on the back of marks jacket, also the third zombie you have to push off the fence has clearly been put on from the inside, plus that crazy woman has how may I assist you on the back of her jacket, could be because she's a Market helper, but this is Twd universe so hmmmmm 3 should be intense!

Excellent work on TWD so far! How about a 7 episode game; The Dark Tower Series? Just sayin.........

can we expect episode 3 this month? and will thir be more after 5? ya just cant end it at season 1.
  • edited July 2012
I think the art style you guys have going on looks fantastic and really captures the aesthetic of the original comic series.

As someone who makes art for games, I'd be really keen to know anything you could tell me about the way your character art is generated, particularly the texture maps. How much of that detail is hand painted? How much, if any is rendered from high resolution mesh sculpts?

    Thanks.

  • edited July 2012
the walking dead is a great game !!! but I am a huge Stephen king fan and the ozzmann has a good idea ,,, making a Dark Tower game series would be great ! just make one game, where you don't have to wait each month to play the next part . Make it like a mixture of the novels and the comic, what would be cool is rideing blaine the mono ! its in the third book, but it would be cool . make it a three or more part game, like the mass effect games , just with a better ending.

i have a question i want to ask and a question i will ask.

want to ask will Doug's A.V. Experience and Carley's journalism experience play a factor in a future episode like Doug rigs up an device to capture a confession of [ok we know the governors not gonna be here but lets use him] the governor while carley makes an interview tape where he ends up revealing his secrets

what i will ask is the similarity between doug and carleys skills/professions intentional?

So friends from Telltale,is there any news about the european release for episode 2 on the PS3.
I would like to get playing about now and the way we are treated over on this side of the ocean is getting kinda ridiculous.
An awnser like its getting there asap is hardly exceptable about now for a season pass buyer or isnt european money real enough,i can understand that in game developing you sometimes run in to things that will cause a delay but they lack of information is almost like flipping some one the finger and saying i dont give a shit.
This kinda consumer disregard will atleast make me think twice before buying a Telltale product again, and following a lot of european blogs and forums i am not on my own.

Greetings from a kinda pissed off paying costumer.

Simple Question for The Walking Dead Team:
Can you explain to us who actually Jolene is?
I mean how she is related with the bandits..
There are a lot of different versions of her background story but without any certainty..
    Anyway, good work Telltale Games..
I do hope you can keep up the good work until the last episodes..

Hey guys do you know when will the walking dead episode 2 will be released in south africa?

If your using steam the episodes are released along the worldwide PC schedule.

Also assume theres no geographic download restrictions off the telltale servers.

Hey, I and from the looks of it, a bunch of other Mac users want to know why we can't download epi2! Every time we try to download it says our Internet connection went down and forces the download to start again at 1%!!! Unless I get some kind of response I'm going to demand my money back and tell everyone I know to never deal with TTG again! Please don't make me do that!!

Will Telltale include a third option of not siding with either Kenny or Lilly, but with Clem and Carley?
  • edited July 2012
Hi ! the game until now was being very awesome ^^ !!! not a single problem telltale ! except maybe you guys make us wait a month a half more XD ! less that its ok !

Simple Question i really wanted to know !
You guys will lunch episode 3 on jully ?
  • edited July 2012
First off, love the game. I seriously think this has been the most entertaining story you have had in your games in a long time. The choice options really make it so much more intimate.

That said, I am concerned about how schizo Kenny comes off as in episode 2 although all my decisions in episode 1 pretty much supported everything he did. I did not vote to throw Duck out, but for some reason the game registers as me siding with Larry and Kenny treats me like I wanted to kill Duck. It happened on both my Xbox and Mac versions. Is any of this intentional or is it a tracking error? I would not want to make a choice I did not intend to if it was an error.

This is the official Questions and Awnsers forum of Telltale,To bad there are a lot of questions but hardly any awnsers.
But thats ok,a group of dutch consumers(All season Pass Buyers) banded together and already send a lot of questions and complaints to the official consumer rights protection agency of holland, this is a group of people that are sick of beeing at the bad end of the stick from telltale, you guys have no problem taking money but when it comes to delivering products that are bought and paid for you go silent and ignore your paying costumers.
By the end of the week we will hear what rights we have to claim refunds or things like that, the house lawyer is looking in to international laws about this and when he has a solution he will contact us because he does awnser questions, and he also feels that whe have every right to be pissed.

asking questions is USELESS! these people dont even monitor thier own forums, they could give 2 pisses less about us as the consumers. Lol we should all file a lawsuit for misleading information, false advertisement, and shitty customer service

I read the forums every day, and have for over six years. Hi there! There are things I can't say or don't know the answer to, otherwise I would reply. It sucks, it's life, I'm sorry!

Bonus note: This thread is also not really the best place to ask tech support questions. If you're having trouble with a save game or a download/unlocking issue, please post in the Support Forum or write to support@telltalegames.com.

This thread is mostly read by the designers and artists on the game, and is for Q&A about the game content. We're pretty useless at helping you debug the game unfortunately, but there is a whole dedicated forum and support system for that! Use it and be happy!

I have a question, rather questions

Why do you guys ignore questions pertaining to your release dates?
Honestly, most of the team doesn't know the release date until you guys do -- when we are told either by the guys running the console and PC marketplaces, or by our marketing department.
Why do you guys answer stupid pointless and already obviously known questions when people who bought season passes have legitimate questions that they have a right to have an answer to as paying customers?

Why do you guys continue to brag about how ep1 was top selling on a ps3 chart but dont post anything answering our questions about your release dates, and don't try to apologize or give us reasoning at all
I think we'll be talking about it in some way reasonably soon. Sorry for the protracted radio silence. I know it sucks/sucked.

As for why we answer the "stupid pointless and already obviously known questions," we do that because it's fun. We are people, too, and making this game is our job. We get stressed out by the game being late just like everybody else, so it's refreshing to respond to a question from a fan that we CAN answer confidently, blow off a little steam, and be excited by the things we are proud of in the games. You would surely do the same!
If you have any respect for me, or any of your paying customers for that matter, you will answer each and everyone of my questions, because i dont just ask for myself, i ask on behalf of all the people like myself who has bought the season pass under the impression it was a monthly release, because you as a company advertised it as such.
I think you are actually just asking for yourself, not on behalf of anyone and everyone -- this is an open forum and you are one voice among many asking these questions -- but I understand your point. I don't quite know what you would like to hear at this point other than we're sorry, but we are! We were later than the originally advertised monthly schedule, and we have updated the wording of all of the storefronts to reflect that now.

I don't know if you've played Telltale games in the past but we are generally known for being the episodic/downloadable company who actually hits their dates, or very close. On some of our earlier games there has occasionally been a small slip either at the very beginning or very end of the season, but a monthly schedule is something we traditionally pride ourselves on, and Walking Dead episode 2 taking the extra time that it took kind of caught us with our pants down, made us deer-in-the-headlights a bit. We've realized now that making the Walking Dead games the games they are is taking longer than a lot of our older games (so we've changed the wording to remove monthly, as that has turned out to not be true), and we're sorry for that, but we hope, and we think, that the resulting content you guys get to play when its done makes up for the delay.

I get that you are upset at the delay, but please know that the delay is not meant out of disrespect, it is meant out of the OPPOSITE. We are honored that you are interested enough in our take on the Walking Dead to purchase the game from us, and we want to do right by your purchase and the world of the Walking Dead with a quality game we hope you'll remember well for years to come. Hopefully the delay between eps 1 and 2 hasn't marred that too much! (Also, if it's any consolation, a silence like that is unlikely to ever happen again.)

    Hey guys,
I just wanted to thank you for an amazing game. After having to read Max Brooks' World War Z, it's refreshing to come back to a game that focuses on the human condition and the hard choices one would have to make in such a situation. As far as sticking to the main purpose of The Walking Dead series, I think it's been astounding what you've done; making your own storyline with the best parts of the series and not shying away from the terribleness of the situation. Seriously great job!

    Ben
Thank you! It's a lot of work, but it's very fulfilling both to make, and to watch people play through and read their reactions online.

I got a question. Should we pay any attention to the mysterious figure in episode 1 that lee yells out to after killing the cop? or was it just a zombie?
That was Clementine! It's been confirmed a few times on this board by the writers of the game, and by fans who took high res screenshots.

Don't know if any of the Telltale staff are still looking at this thread...may I ask why episode 2 contained so many glitches?? Did you guys even bother to test the game?

By the way, I'm not refering to the glitch that initially postponed all ps3 user's from playing episode 2 to begin with.
We do test the games, I promise :) We're looking at the current builds for episode 2 re: issues, but I can't make promises or announcements for that sort of thing. It's well outside my pay grade and job description.

I'd like to ask "Does Doug and/or Carley have a Dark Secret that we might find out later"

What I will ask "Considering Doug is based on a real person can he have a Dark Secret without being considered Slander?"
Doug's dark secret is that he knows how to make his own mustard and desert candies from scratch, but without the proper ingredients or cookware he is sad.

I've got a question for you guys:

You guys have already stated that you're following the comics as opposed to the television version. The comics are much darker than the show has been, at least up to this point. Do you guys struggle with making content appropriate for the various rating boards (ESRB/PEGI etc.)? Have you had any issues with that already or do anticipate it may be an issue in the future?

Also, how does it feel to create likable characters and then watch them be killed off as the story progresses? Can't be a great feeling, haha.
Rating boards are an issue to some degree, but we knew going in that the game would be for people 18 and older across the board, so we haven't been surprised by any of our ratings. The violence in the Walking Dead is horrible, but it's all supposed to be horrible, which maybe helps? Nobody revels in it, nothing is senseless. In that way it is different from a lot of other violent imagery in games. We definitely keep the fact that the games will be rated in mind, but we haven't had to censor the games because of it.

As for creating likable characters then killing them off, it's a mixed bag. Everyone in the studio had a ton of fun with
    Larry
    and watching
    him
get killed off was sad because they wouldn't be around in the games anymore, but the opportunities created for how that sort of event hits the rest of the surviving cast is too good to pass up! It also means that maybe players will go back and play the old episodes again to see the content they missed with their favorite now-dead characters. If we are missing someone after we kill them off, it gives us confidence that you will miss them, too, and that's the point! If someone dies, we want it to feel important that they are gone.

Plus there's also the perverse thrill of just fucking with you guys, knowing who will live and who dies and watching everyone guess and freak out and stuff. That's not as important by any means, but it is a fun side effect! :) Honesty before all else here folks!

can we expect episode 3 this month? and will thir be more after 5? ya just cant end it at season 1.
We'll be talking Episode 3 dates soon from what I hear.

As far as "more after 5" goes, right now this is it! We're focusing on getting these five out and in your hands as fast as we can first, before thinking about what could possibly come after.

First, thanks! Our art team is kicking ass on this game. It's also kind of incredible to watch every episode come together and look better than the last.

I'm not a character modeler, but here is the process, as I have gleaned from looking over the shoulder of Walking Dead's lead character modeler, who used to sit next to me before he grew tired of my ways and moved almost all the way across the office: Our characters are scuplted and have a first pass digital paint job done in Z-brush, then that high res sculpt is baked down onto a lower vert count mesh (both the color map and a normal map for facial details and fabric folds, etc from the high res sculpt). Additional painting is done on the low res texture map, and the little flyaway scribble line sprite flats are added to the low res mesh at that point.

It's a kind of crazy style where in Zbrush they'll sculpt folds into the fabric, but then also hand paint in inklines and light shading on the sculpted folds as well, so the characters have the inked and drawn look, but still pick up 3D highlights and additional shadow sources from realtime lights. It keeps things from looking plastic-like, but still allows us to realtime light the characters even with the illustrated look.

Environments are mostly built low res and hand painted on top of the low res geo.
