7 Year Anniversary Sale

edited June 2011 in General Chat
Wow. This is really quite a sale. Will be picking up quite a bit of merch seeing as most of it's apparently being discontinued.

Also - it says does not apply to PA2, implying it'll be up for preorder before the sale ends (the 30th). Hooray?

Gotta wait 'til Monday before we can buy anything, though.

Ah, apparently the banner says June 6th, but IT LIES!

Thanks for pointing that out! :)

....$12.86 is the cheapest shipping price? REALLY? I'm in the continental US and have paid less than $10 for shipping for ALL of my orders until now. What the hell, Telltale?

Hm? Are you ordering multiple prints? Obviously, the more items you purchase the more expensive it is and prints ship at a higher cost.

This sale is insane... Right now I have $95 worth of stuff in my cart for only $23.74.
  • edited June 2011
    YES!!!

Its a shame I can't get everything due to shipping fees. But I got a crapload of stuff.

This is what I got for £30:

Sam & Max Symbiotes Figure Set

Tales of Monkey Island Voodoo Card Set

SB Emails' 50 Greatest Hits DVD

    Sam & Max Soundtrack Bundle

Back to the Future: The Card Game

Hector: Episode 1 - We Negotiate with Terrorists

Can't find the buy button for the Flux Capacitor shirt... does that mean it's sold out?
  • edited June 2011
    What is this, Sale month?!
I guess I may pick up Hector, but I haven't even finished Wallace and gromit/Strongbad/Bone 2 that I picked up in the last sale!
  • edited June 2011
I love the fact that Telltale can do this, but seriously couldn't find anything I really wanted to buy. I already own all the digital games (except CSI), have already bought most of the Sam & Max, Strongbad & Monkey Island merchandise I really want, and... well there isn't much else. I ended up with the ToMI Voodoo Card Set and 2 Flaming Max Shotglasses in my cart. Total $9.99. International Shipping: $19.90. Yeah, no.

    So no purchase made.
  • edited June 2011
I put Sam and Max Season Two Soundtrack, Sam and Max Animated Series DVD, a Flaming Max Shot Glass and 5 prints pack but... 20 dollar international shipping STILL makes it impossible for me to purchase anything from the store. EDIT: Except HECTOR! Bought it at an incredible price. It isn't all THAT bad I guess. Thanks Telltale! <3

I was gonna comment on the fact that 7 is kind of an odd anniversary to have a huge sale on, but then I realized that this is Telltale and they could call it the "Alan Bought a New Washing Machine Sale" and no one would even blink. :p

I'll probably pick up the Sam & Max Comic-Con shirt along with my Puzzle Agent 2 preorder next week.

Unfortunately, the shipping prices are not something we control (our current shipping fulfillment center does that on their end) but hopefully as we move into the next few months and changes are made with our order fulfillment process, shipping across the board (prices, reliability, speed) will improve.

Apologies to you and anybody that have experienced this but we're working on resolving this issue.
  • edited June 2011
Y'know what? I ordered like $30 worth of stuff from you (4 DVDs and a hat) and I got whacked with $15 for international postage.

    Awesome sauce.
  • edited June 2011
Oh dear. I hate such good deals. Makes me part with my money so easily. :(
  • edited June 2011
Even the bundles do count for the sale. Bought the "Sam & Max Blowout Bundle" and got $119.9 worth of stuff for only $14.47. That's insane. :)
  • edited June 2011
As much as I want to keep everything in the same place (Steam), I think finally getting Wallace and Gromit for $5 is worth it.
  • edited June 2011
    It's.....it's.....BEAUTIFUL.

I guess either bonnie or Amy said something along the lines of this in a very distant past, and we didn't hear anything about that since then, but it's good to hear that you're still on the case. Godspeed, my sir.

No offense, Alan, but frankly after Telltale's long string of broken promises to customers thus far, a reply essentially saying "wait and see, we're working on it" doesn't fill me with confidence.

Speaking of broken promises, I thought about buying those Devil's Playhouse posters.... but I realized I can't hang those things with pride on my wall after the shameful NutriSpecs debacle.

Sorry if I seem rather a troll. I'm just embittered about the direction Telltale's gone these days. The Specs were a symptom, but they're far from the only one.
  • edited June 2011
No, just... If you weren't trolling, it's far worse, in my opinion.

NutriSpecs isn't a debacle, from what I've seen. It wasn't a big deal to begin with, it doesn't play a big role and every extra it may give you can be found on Youtube, and this won't give you any dissatisfactions. It's not a big problem, it's not a broken promise, it's not the evidence of Telltale eating babies. After so long, I thought everyone else had gotten past that.

That said, the aforementioned 5 prints still signifies the glorious days of Telltale, in my opinion. Proceed to hang them on your walls with pride and honor.

If they sell prints for Back to the Future, however...

You must have missed the time Jake explicitly said they were coming for PC users, then.

I understand this issue never personally bothered you. But it bothered me, and it still does. Frankly, considering the other (numerous and repeated) examples of Telltale saying one thing and doing another, I don't know why the Specs don't deserve to be counted in Telltale's "screwup list" as well.

No, no they weren't. Neither were the Mac ports of S&M and W&G. Or the DRM on the W&G DVDs. Or the Wiiware version of Puzzle Agent. Or the full releases of entire seasons on iPad. Or the Earl Boen voice on the downloadable version of the game. Or any of the things that have been promised, delayed, or unceremoniously dropped without a word.

Essentially, I think it's entirely fair for customers to not only feel cheated as a whole, but to take a I'll believe it when I see it, actions speak louder than words, especially the words of liars approach to the situation.

Full releases of entire seasons on iPad issue was touched upon, so it wasn't really dropped without a word. Most of the other stuff were just forgotten by their ridicilous new work schedule I assume, but they don't like me to bitch about that, apparently. I half-agree with that they don't really hold onto promises but I kind of sympathize with them as you can't really recall DVDs and perhaps reburn new DVDs of a season which isn't bought really oftenly nowadays.

But I still disagree with NutriSpecs being such a notoriously sinful issue to the point it makes you feel disgusted and horrified just by looking at season prints or some stuff like that.

To get a little more into detail on the shipping issue, it IS being addressed. The zaniness that has been shipping items from our store (delays, price, discrepancies between what was ordered and what arrives, etc.) for some customers is a problem that we have targeted the basic cause of and are currently taking action to fix the issue entirely. It won't be an overnight switch, in fact it may cause a brief period of time where there is little to no availability of shippable merchandise, but we're in the exploratory stages of getting NEW product into the store that's in line with what fans, old and new, want from a Telltale Games store. While I can't make any promises on what may or may not appear in the store in the future, or when exactly these merchandise updates would occur, care is being taken to make sure that it's of the quality Telltale has been known for.

As for product releases being "unceremoniously dropped", that's something that simply will not happen anymore. That's not to say that something might not be canceled, changed, or altered after its been announced (no one could make that type of claim) but care will be taken to inform fans and customers of these changes in a reasonable fashion. Communication to you guys is key and that will improve as we move forward.

I hope that answered some of your questions and addressed some of your concerns. Please always feel free to reach out to me and I will do my best to keep you guys abreast of what's going on as best I can (this week might get a little nuts with E3 and all, but in general).

    Alan

I don't really have any beef, but am curious what has changed so that things won't be "unceremoniously dropped" anymore. Were there company meetings held about that sort of thing?

Great sale, I hope you guys are smart enough to advertise it a lot during E3. I own all of Telltale's own games already, and also all the merchandise I want (hint: reissues of the old Grickle books - the ones before the Book of Grickle - would be most welcome!), so I bought Monkey Special Edition. I already own it on Steam, but it's less than €2,- right now. You can't ever own enough versions of Monkey Island games. Puzzle Agent 2 is only €6,- (even though it's not part of the anniversary sale), so this is one happy fan right here.

Alan, as long as you're taking suggestions, here's one. This has been requested before, and I guess it's not a priority, but that old games list is getting pretty long for those of us that are keeping a complete collection. Some way of arranging those games on franchise, chronological order or whatever would be great. Maybe you could steal GOG's nifty bookcase idea (maybe unique bookcases for every franchise. Maybe you could earn unique customizations for your bookcase by completing achievement-like tasks in the games. And maybe you could access other extras in your bookcase like on GOG, like bits of the soundtrack, concept art, or De Cava's journal from the Monkey Island Treasure Hunt. Maybe that stuff could be offered as pre-order bonuses).

Okay, okay, I guess I'm getting a bit carried away here. Still, a way to streamline that games-list would be pretty neat!

Ah man, I have enough trouble getting achievements and trophies for my console games, don't give Telltale ideas and make me get them for PC games as well!

Heh, I wasn't that serious about the achievements. Never really bothered with them myself, and I think they're especially pointless in adventure games. I was thinking more along the lines of the awesomeness-meter in the Strong Bad games, getting a perfect score in the Puzzle Agent games, or maybe getting a certain amount of points in the King's Quest games (if they're keeping the Sierra-style scoring system).

The sale only applies to Telltale's own store. No other Telltale store sale has ever been extended to other stores that also carry Telltale's games. So, no, you can't buy the games for other platforms.

Not cool :( i guess i'll just pass the sale then, thx for answer though.

If you want, you can still pick up some merchandise(the Sam and Max Surfin' the Highway reprint that Telltale sells is simply EXCELLENT), and pretty much any modern computer can play Telltale's games.
