Sam and Max (S2) randomly freezes

I have been playing through season 2 of Sam and Max on mac and every now and then the game will freeze. The music plays in the background but my mouse is locked and the game is frozen. If I force quit the music will stop but the game won't exit it just sits there.

My specs are:
Mac OS X 10.6.7
Processor 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB of RAM
ATI Radeon 2600 HD PRO

I play the game on my computers native screen size 1600x1050

Any help would be greatly Appreciated
