Cowboys and Aliens

edited June 2011 in General Chat
After the other discussions about upcoming films, I thought this would deserve its own thread. Is anyone else here looking forward to "Cowboys and Aliens"? It will come out on July 29th in the USA and around the world the weeks after.

Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford together in an action adventure produced by Steven Spielberg - a combination of western and sci-fi - that can't be bad.:)

For the ones who never heard of it - here are the trailers and tv spots.

So what do you think of it?

I'm cautiously looking forward to it. The talent behind it is frankly awesome but I do fear that it will degenerate into a plot light, braindead, special effects laden extravaganza. One thing in particular that does bug me at this stage is that the aliens tech features lots of blue lighting, as seen in far too many Science-Fiction films at the moment. If you don't know what I'm referring to then look no further than the farcical rubbish that is "Skyline"...

    "Don't Watch It" more like.

They should definitely switch the lighting to bright orange once and awhile. Just to spice things up. Or olive green!

I get the reference. Yay for me! :D

I thought you were referencing this particular fad. Perhaps you just accidently made a relevant reference.

Okay, I'm totally referencing that! Yup! Yessiree!

Amazing, absolutely incredible! You made a great, humourous reference and you didn't even mean to! You are effortlessly cool my friend.

... but of course that's not true because you totally meant to do that. :D

I don't think my signature's big enough to contain all the awesome things you've said about me.

    Oh wait, nevermind.

    I, too, am cautiously optimistic.

The concept sounds so cheesy, but in an awesome sort of way. Does that make sense? Probably not.

I will however probably be spending the entire movie wishing that Harrison Ford was Han Solo.

There's actually going to be a movie called Cowboys and Aliens? Well, stranger things have happened and worked out well I guess.

I have nothing but good feelings about this movie, but the article on the color palettes does put a sour taste in my mouth.

I definitely want to see this. Harrison Ford is easily one of my most favorite actors who ever lived. I think he is my favorite, I think I could easily say that, I think I'm saying that he is...

Nah, but he is pretty awesome. And, of course the movie looks pretty good, but simple minded at time, but maybe it will be intellectual. But...I'm just looking for a action/ adventure sci fi film.

Im looking forward to it... I actually can not think of anything bad to say about it.

I am looking forward to this, I have been looking forward to it ever since I saw it on the upcoming list on IMDB. And it will give me something to do when I visit my boyfriend here in August.

    Aliens love blue.

I'm going to go watch Independence Day now.

They released a new trailer. Looks great if you ask me.

And regarding the blue lights: Not all movies with aliens using blue lights must be bad.;)

A movie called 'Cowboys and Aliens'? Sounds boring.

Now, 'Aliens and Cowboys'. THAT sounds awesome; it's about an alien planet that was suddenly attacked by evil cowboys!

The thing is, red is technically not a very strong color, in a literal sense. For example, a red or yellow flame is less hot than a blue flame. And to take an extreme case, while infrared is relatively harmless to humans, ultraviolet isn't.

    So yeah, blue lasers.

Also, aliens apparently hate Axel F.

I have been a fan of wild western movies and Steven Spielburg. I'm willing to give the movie a shot. I don't know if I'll like it or not, but it's better than nothing.

I think Steven Spielberg should start directing movies again. I think he still has it in him as long as Lucus isn't involved. Watching Super 8 made me miss the classic Spielberg.

Is that irony? What do you mean?
  • edited June 2011
Ah, I apologize. I should research a bit befoe I post. I guess because of all the Spielberg Produced films coming out I assumed that he wasn't directing anymore which is upsetting cause he's one of my favorite directors. But after a quick google search I found out he actually has several movies coming out that he's directing.

I'll see this movie. As for Spielberg, I have little interest in anything that he puts out anymore. But I think there's still hope for George Lucas. Speilberg is just gone. He just made another damn alien movie. Whatever, I don't care anymore. I'm still holding out for Lucas who has some interesting, original projects planned, something refreshing for us, things out of his comfort zone...

No he doesn't. If you're referring to Red Tails or whatever it was called, he tossed that off to someone else.

What? It can't be! I felt it , the project was a live! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

That's not so bad. He should finally get "Indiana Jones 5" started!
