Can't save my BTTF game

Hi, a friend of mine recently bought me a copy of the BTTF game which I used my code and downloaded it from this site. Well apparently I can't save my progress during the game.
It's not even an option in the esc. menu. My friend looked it up, and he said this might be the result of pirated software. How can my copy be pirated if my friend bought it from this site, and I downloaded it from here too?
Is there a way to fix this problem?

    Hi Jim, to start the game you need to use the shortcut specific to the episode you want to play, otherwise the Save/Load menu option doesn't appear (you get a separate shortcut for each episode installed). Can you give that a try?
