Looking for PS3/360 games that are NOT shooters

edited June 2011 in General Chat
I had been considering on getting a PS3(or a 360), considering the fact that I am in need of catching up with most video games. However, I've noticed that most of the PS3 video games are first person shooters. I have nothing agaisnt First person shooters. But I am rather annoyed about it since its the only thing that is talked about whenever the word PS3 and 360.

So what are video games that are for the PS3 and 360 that are NOT First person shooter games?

    So for the 360:

    Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
    Ace Combat
    Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon (not for everyone this one)
Mass Effect (it is a shooter, but its RPG-ish)
    Dragon Age Origins
Fable 2 and 3 (not particularily very good games, but they are alright...)
    Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas (both of these are shooters, but you do use melee stuff too, and other things)
    Resonance of Fate
    Tales of Vesperia
    Oblivion
Final Fantasy XIII (not very good IMO)
    Eternal Sonata
Beautiful Katamari (not the best katamari game but its passable)
    Devil May Cry 4
    Bayonetta
Spiderman Web of Shadows (buggy but not that bad really)
    Spiderman Shattered Dimensions
    Assasins Creed
    Assasins Creed 2
    Kameo: Elements of power
Dead Rising (has guns but not really a shooter)
    Dead Rising 2
    Batman: Arkham Asylum
Alan Wake (don't know about this one...)
    Ninja Gaiden 2
    Castlevania: lord of Shadow
    Overlord
Deadly Premonition (the game's focus isn't always on shooting stuff)
    Majin and the forsaken kingdom
    Fight Night series
    Forza series
    Dirt series
    Burnout Paradise
Sonic and Sega allstars racing (with banjo and kazooie)
    Super Street Fighter 4
    Virtua Fighter 4
    Blazblue: Continuum Shift
    Tekken 6

There are a lot of non-shooters on xbox live arcade.

Most of the games I mentioned are 3rd party, so they are on the PS3 as well.

    PS3 does have quite a few non-shooters.

Some exclusive to the PS3 like the Little Big Planet and Uncharted series.

    Here's a good tip:

Go to a review site like Gamespot, go to the review section, and sort by console, then genre, then score, and then you'll see what sort of good games that console has.

    PS3:

Demon Souls (online part may already be gone by now) (keep an eye out for Dark Souls)
    Valkyria Chronicles
    3D Dot Game Heroes
Star Ocean: The Last Hope (also on 360)
    Uncharted Series
    God of war series
    Yakuza series
    Darksiders (also on 360)
    Heavenly Sword
    Motorstorm Series
    Gran Tourismo 5
    Modnation Racers
    Heavy Rain
    Mortal Kombat (also on 360)
Soul Calibur 4 (also on 360)
Various Guitar Hero and Rockband games (multiplatform)
Multiplatform sports games like FIFA 2011

PS3 has a few more exclusive non-shooter games, and it has better media playback, and free online multiplayer (with a subscription service)

Xbox 360 does generally have better arcade stuff, and an old xbox 360 can be bought for dirt cheap these days.
(even cheaper if you buy and fix a red ringer. :D)

If your looking to go for the old games on the PS1, check out the PSN(playstation network) here's what I would recomend that are not shooters.

    L.A Noire(really brilliant game)
    Splatterhouse
    The Sly Cooper Collection
    Sly 4
    Medievil(through PSN)
    Crash Bandicoot(same as above)

    Valkyria Chronicles so very much.

Also, I've heard White Knight Chronicle is pretty much a bad-ass sweet game. I still need to purchase it though, but my main motivation would be the GeoRama.

Alan Wake on xbox is pretty good, you shoot stuff and all, but it's very story and atmosphere driven.

    Ratchet & Clank series
    God of War 3
    Uncharted series
    are popular PS3 games

Star Wars Force Unleashed 1&2 are guilty pleasures of mine as well.

One game I don't see here that I personally enjoyed is Venetica. This may just be me though. Here's a good review of it. One thing it doesn't mention is it's made by the same guys behind Ankh and Jack Keane, so if you liked those, you'll probably enjoy this.

Yeah, the Uncharted games are phenomenal. I'm not partial to shooters either but I love both of them.

There is a lot of shooting in Uncharted, but there's also plenty of platforming and lame puzzles and such. Would not call it a "shooter" and it's definitely not a FPS.

Yeah, i wouldn't fully call Uncharted a shooter. THere's a lot of shooting in it yes, but there's also platforming and puzzles. Not to mention the story for both in more thought out than most shooters. The is great for both of them.

I've owned a 360 but quickly switched to a PS3 a year later. That's just me though. There's many opinions on which system is better, which exclusives are better and what not. I prefer the PS3 myself. Uncharted is one of the reasons.
