What if Telltale did a "Penny Arcade" game?

edited July 2011 in General Chat
What if Telltale created an episodic game revolving around the Penny Arcade series?
Unlike "On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness", it would be set in the main present day universe with Tycho, Gabe, Div, Annarchy, Charles, Frank, the Fruit Friend and others. Story wise, it could involve one of the characters in some sort of trouble (presumably Gabe) and would have the player supposably controlling either Tycho and Gabe across the different locations.
Like the comics, it would feature the usual shananigans and a whole heap of video game and pop culture references. Gameplay would be similar to that of Sam & Max and could feature Kid Beyond to return voicing Tycho.

Of course with Telltale's current development, this sort of thing couldn't happen for a while.

It'd be kind of neat to explore that world. Seems like it'd be tough to come up with a big adventure plot, but if they could do it with the same consistency that they applied with the Strong Bad games then I'd be happy, probably.

Sounds interesting, especially since Telltale has a perfectly good Tycho model already.

I imagine it being similar to SBCG4AP story-wise, though. No big epic plot, just have the characters going through their "normal" lives.

I would love to play that game.

I'd rather have a Bill and Ted Telltale series.

Now that would be totally EXCELLENT!

    Wyld Stallyns!

(I know a third movie is in the works, and hopefully if it gets done, and its decent enough, then why not have a telltale series to go with it! :D)

I actually though Poker Night at the Inventory was made just to hint this possibility. I was dead wrong. Nonetheless I'd so play this game. I LOVE On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness episodes and would never say no to this game.

I still think this is a possibility, judging by Telltale's own Comic-Con video featuring Jerry Holkins, where he states that he'd like to write for Telltale in the future.

Listen, Telltale, I want Jurassic Park and The Walking Dead. But a Penny Arcade game? I REALLY REALLY want a Penny Arcade game.

I would buy a Penny Arcade game no matter how bad it was.

At least I know I'd be laughing.

Sorry to lean the thread more off topic.. but.. :O
aren't they a bit old now?

They are old, but I think that leads to potential for more interesting comedy. It'd be cool if they were effectively playing their future selves from the utopian future where they rule, but then they have to travel back in time to the 80s for some reason.

I know several plot points in both of the original movies involved the idea that they could have something conveniently set up (placing a key in a pocket, or setting up a trap) as long as they "remember" to time travel into the past later to do it... we never see them actually go back and do any of those things, so I always thought it'd be funny if they have a movie where it's like 40 years later and they realize they still have to do it or time will unravel. It'd be kind of a tedious plot if that was all they did, but presumably they could spice that up with some added twists and conflict.

I don't see why not, Jerry said in the interview at Comic-con (day 2) that he would be interested in working with telltale on a game. If they make one I'll pre-order instantly.
