Tales of Monkey Island - mouse jumps all over

Hi,
I've downloaded the game on two different computers. One with Windows XP, one with Windows 7. In both cases the mouse jumps erratically over the screen and is impossible to control.
I've tried slowing the mouse speed on the computer, but that doesn't help.

Can you help - I would love to be able to play this.

BTW, I have Puzzle Agent and that seems fine

    Have you tried reducing the graphics quality setting?

    changing the graphics quality in ToMI
    Start the game.

    Select "Settings". Click the red arrows until you see "graphics settings".
    Set "quality" to 1 and test the game. If you want increase it as long as it runs well.
