gamespot is currently running a greatest sidekick contest. Everyone's favorite demonic talking skull just so happens to be a contestant. Lets all go give him our support!!! in the first round, he's running against Maya Fey of the Phoenix Wright series. which he currently has around 60% of the votes. But next round, he's going to be up against Luigi. Lets band together and help Murray pull out the upset!!!

    The Companion Cube is beating Crow from The Longest Journey.

    I mean, I loves me some Portal and all, but... aaaargh.

    And the dog from Fable 3 is beating Frog from Chrono Trigger! AAAAAAAAARGH!

    I love Ace Attorney :/

    It's the "Ace Attorney" series, not the "Phoenix Wright" series. Phoenix is only the main character in the first three games!!!

    But yeah, I ended up voting for Murray.

    i don't mind the companion cube winning that one. just the fact that valve was able to come up with an inanimate object to be CONSIDERED in that contest is amazing in itself. and its even one of the favorites to win. thats just insane.

    So we're clear, every time a contest like this happens 4chan always floods the votes so the most obscure character possible wins while the obvious winners get eliminated early. (If I remember correctly they got Bub and Bob to win "Best Hero" and General Raam to win "Best Villain.") I wouldn't worry too much about whoever has to go up against Luigi, since he's obviously the first person they're going to take out. (They're trying to get Launchpad McQuack to win this contest, if you're curious.)

    Anyway, I'm sorry, but I can't vote. I love Murray and Maya. How am I supposed to choose? :(

    Murray definitely wins this round for me. Though I went through the other voting pools and also voted for Garrus, Dogmeat, and the Companion Cube. Just because I could.

    Kind of sad/weird how the thing is filled with characters that I either don't know or don't care about, and yet the few that I do have been paired together to force me to make hard decisions

    He's beating Luigi because Luigi has very little characterization besides the things he exclaims when he falls off a cliff. Or, at least, that's what I'm telling myself. I don't understand it either. But anything that gets Murray closer to ruling the Universe is okay by me.

    not that i disagree, but it was mostly because of 4chan. i obviously voted for murray tho :cool:

    Look, I like Murray, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to vote for Luigi this time. I just like him better, plus, he's a lot more useful than murray. Let's face it, there's only so much that a talking skull can do.

    I voted for Murray. However, I think that pairing Murray against Luigi on such an early stage is unfair for both characters. Murray vs. Luigi should have been the CLIMAX!

    Well, with ladder things like this, they tend to pair the more popular characters with less popular characters at the beginning so that the ending rounds will be between really popular characters and thus more exciting. Of course, that doesn't always happen.

    It's a bit like a fencing tournament. In the first direct elimination they place the B-rated fencers against the complete noobs so the new people get eliminated early and don't end up winning the tournament via a fluke.

    And now Luigi seems to be losing against Dogmeat from Fallout...what a waste.
    I'm pretty sure Murray would have won that fight.

    I understand choosing Dogmeat over Luigi even less than I understand choosing Luigi over Murray. It's like, the less of an actual personality they have, the better. Dogmeat isn't even very useful in Fallout 3.

    And how can HK be losing to a fleshy meatbag like Garrus? :(

    So in the final, Launchpad is poised to win the thing now? Seriously, do the majority think he is the best sidekick?

    When gamers congregate, do they say "Hey, remember McQuack? I sure wish we would get more Duck Tales games, because Launchpad is awesome!"

    I seriously don't get it.
