Transferring RCT Data?
I know we have quite a few technically competent members here, so I have a question for you:
I want to buy Rollercoaster Tycoon and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 on GOG so I can play them without the discs and have digital copies forever. I already have the CDs, but I can't find where it saves the park completion data. I know when you save the game, it goes to the Rollercoaster Tycoon > Saved Games folder, but when I open that up outside of the game the only file is 001 (in RCT) and scores.dat (in RCT2). I have hidden files set to visible so I don't know what's going on. Can someone help?

EDIT: Actually, that's a lie. From what I can tell (by browsing RCT sites with custom save games) saved games for RCT1 have a .sv4 extension. It may be that the 001 file is the file where the game stores how far you've progressed through the game.
An easy way to tell is to rename the file (add .tmp to the end of the filename or something) and load the game. If your progress has reset to square one, there's your answer. If the game doesn't load at all, then whoops! Must have been a critical file!
EDIT2: Also, RCT2 saved games have an extension of .sv6, just so you know. Scores.dat may be the progression through the game. Try renaming that as well and see.
In RCT2, I renamed scores.dat to scotes.tmp and it also worked fine.
I don't get it- how are the games able to hide the .sv4/.sv6 files even when I have hidden files visible? Ugh. All the tutorials to move saves are completely gone since the games are so old.
...unless... have you checked 'C:\Program Files\Hasbro Interactive\Rollercoaster Tycoon\Save Games'? Even if that's not where you installed the game?
(note that they're in the Program Files (x86), but there are none in the regular program files.)
Edit: Unless I try copying the files while I'm in game... Hold on.
Edit 2: Andddddd.... nothing. Dang.
