MW3: A Fool and His Money are soon parted

edited November 2011 in General Chat
I was on IGN this Morning When I Found this article of interest containing The Following:
"A leaked copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been sold on eBay for $1,725.

Unauthorized copies of the game were mistakenly released into the wild this week, when a retailer placed the game on sale. MW3 is not due to be officially released until November 8th.

One copy of the game was placed on eBay and has been picked up for nearly 29 times the retail price of the game. It received a total of 88 bids.

But early play may carry an additional price. Xbox Live's Director of Policy and Enforcement for Stephen Tolouse warned that playing the game online pre-release could result in a ban. He tweeted, "Pre-release play not authorized. Please be patient. Playing early may impact your account!"

NOTE: this Purchase was apparently for the $60 one and not the
more expensive one

To clarify, it was only bid up to that price. eBay pulled the auction before it ended, so nobody's actually paid that much for it.

Why would you pay that much when you can just wait and get it for normal price? And what's worse is that Call of Duty is one of the most generic game series of all time. How badly did this buyer want to play this game? lol

Oh okay. That good then. But still.....

Gamers are impatient (just look at what happen here in this very forum on releasedate of a game episode or when Steam is (like usual) releasing games a few hours later than other online services.
Playing this game before anyone else means having the chance to be the first that reaches maximum rank/level. Showing off to your overly jealous friends. I still would say that it's not worth that price.

Ebaydidn't pull it before it ended. It actually ended. It was on eBay for an entire night and untill this morning. It's highly possible that it was paid.

Hmmm. I'd like to see them try that on people who bought it in good faith from the shop that put them out early.

but they didn't. They pulled it after it legitametly finished. I saw the bid end and laughed my ass off, then sent it to my brother for him to laugh. When we woke up in the morning the bid was removed.

There is a picture of the ending bid. Note the status of it.

Fair enough. What a bunch of morons.

Um, I hate to say this but I was the one who won the bid! Screw the haters, it was totally worth it. Besides I had to have something to take my mind (what's left of it) off the lobotomy I received last week!

Ahem... it pisses me off that the winning bidder could have waited a week and given that extra cash to a charity. You know, to stop people dying from starvation or something! Man alive, I swear most people are braindead, but what really annoys me is that this particular moron has that kind of disposable money. I mean sure, I regularly squander my cashflow on my buttock enhancing surgery and gold plated branches for my pet tree sloth, but damn... at least I can complete a sudoku puzzle or two!

Seriously though, I'm joking in order to conceal my utter despair at humanity.

Seems to me like it would be sorta tough to reach the max multiplayer rank when there's no-one else to play multiplayer with...

What annoys me is that that dude had enough money to pay that much for the game...and then got the 3-4 day delivery for four bucks. What the hell? He would have gotten the game at the same time if he just waited!

    Maybe even earlier!

It occurs to me that there's only one sane plan of action at this juncture; to locate the winning bidder's household and drop by for a game of "multiplayer". They can use a spud gun and we'll be utilising live ammunition. If all else fails, then we'll nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure... to clean up the gene pool for good.
