Apple's iOS5 Push = No more apps for my iPod Touch?!

edited November 2011 in General Chat
I have an iPod touch that is four years old and still working like new. It can't receive any more iOS updates, having stopped at 3.1.3.

However, I updated all my apps I have for it, and now they won't install onto my iPod. Why? Because I now need iOS5 in order to use them.

I looked into the issue, and it seems like Apple is pushing the iOS upgrade to help developers. From what I understand, the developer kit for apps on iOS5 is designed to help cut down cross-platform testing. How? Well, that's the part I don't understand.

Does anyone else have any new information on this? The most recent article I could find was back in late October.
